The last two days of the fast, Day 5, and Day 6, will still be part of your fast, but you’ll be reintroducing certain things to your digestive system to carefully and gradually wake it up. “While your body is in the resting mode, your stomach shrinks and your intestines become idle. So, solid food must be reintroduced very slowly to avoid digestive distress or kidney failure.” Dr. Bill Bright.
It’s important to gently introduce food items working your way towards were later Saturday, Day 6, you will be able to eat a close to normal meal.
Suggestions:
Day 5 start drinking bone broth. It contains proteins and is liquid. It will help your digestive system begin to awake slowly and carefully. Remember your digestive system has experienced healing as well as resting, so how you handle it’s beginning to digest again can sustain the healing or re-injure or do worse to your digestive system.
Towards the end of Day 5, or at the beginning of Day 6 consider something soft as oatmeal. I’ve never done the following but Dr. Bill Bright recommended this “Peel four or five medium-sized tomatoes. Cut them up, bring them to a boil and then turn off the heat. When they are cool enough to eat, have as many as you desire.”
By the end of Day 6 your digestive system should be awakened and ready for regular meals on Sunday.
