The Dynamics of Shepherds & Sheep,

Justice, Self-Serving Shepherds, & Our Shepherd Forever

(Part 10)

By Greg Lancaster

In the final chapter of the “Dynamics of Shepherd & Sheep” series, we are presented with a profound exploration of justice, leadership, and divine guidance, culminating in a message that is both timely and timeless. The birth of two lambs on the Barr Farm serves as a fitting symbol for this conclusion, embodying themes of new life, hope, and renewal that resonate throughout the discourse. The message delves into the complexities of justice from a divine perspective, highlighting the patience required to wait on God’s timing and the dangers of taking matters into our own hands, as illustrated by the biblical story of Absalom. It challenges believers to trust in God’s just nature, encouraging a posture of forgiveness and love even towards those who wrong us, and reassures us of God’s vigilant oversight in dealing with injustices.

Furthermore, the message addresses the issue of self-serving leadership, critiquing those who prioritize their own interests above the welfare of those they are meant to lead. Through the prophetic lens of Ezekiel, it calls for a return to shepherdship that mirrors the heart of Jesus—compassionate, just, and selfless. This segues into the comforting affirmation of Jesus as our Eternal Shepherd, a role He embodies past, present, and into eternity, guiding us to springs of living water and wiping away every tear from our eyes. The message closes with the recitation of Psalm 23, a powerful reminder of God’s constant guidance, provision, and protection. This concluding part not only wraps up the series with a message of hope and trust in God’s eternal care but also inspires a deeper commitment to embodying the principles of faith, patience, and godly leadership in and with our church families and life.
