Did you know that God is a jealous God and that He has a jealous love for you? When a flawed human, as we all are, loves with a jealous love it is a different kind of love because flawed humans do not have an understanding of righteous jealousy. Think about it. He created the universe so you can look, explore, and be amazed. He created the earth and all that is upon the earth, in the seas and in the skies. He created you and all mankind to love. He is a Lover who has created you and everyone for the purpose of love, desiring for us to love Him. If we ignore Him, turn our backs on Him, give someone or something the credit for what He did for us, imagine how He feels? How would you feel if that was you doing all these things for someone you loved? When we begin to understand this amazing love God has for us, a love that is so large and unexplainable that it will probably never be fully understood even into eternity, it all begins to make sense. Even though it is amazing, we can “leave” this “first love” even though His love never stops, we can walk away from it. Jesus awakens us to this when He tells the church in Ephesus, ‘You have left the love [you had for Me] at first. See from what heights you have fallen and repent…Come back to Me’. I’ll forgive you, and restore you, for I have always loved You. Before the foundations of the earth was laid, I knew you and loved you. I even knit you together in your mother’s womb and I want to spend eternity with you. This kind of overwhelming love demands a response, yet like all love, it is our choice to return that love. This message explores what jealous love looks like, and how could we ever want to leave such an awesome loving God.
