When Jesus walked the Earth, some people didn’t know Him; some conspired against Him; but some, did know Him. There were crowds and crowds of people that flocked to Jesus’ voice. Jesus wasn’t bothered by the crowds of people, He was focused on those who were His; those that followed Him in their hearts, not just with their feet.
During His ministry, Jesus had many different encounters with the religious leaders of that day, the Pharisees and Sadducees. Of all the things these leaders could have asked Jesus, they asked Him why His disciples didn’t fast. Mark 2:19-20 reveals Jesus’ wisdom: “Can the wedding guests fast while the bridegroom is with them? As long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast. The days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast in that day.” This is that day. Fasting is not about saying “no” to something but saying “yes” to Jesus. We are saying “yes” to Jesus’ invitation to Come and Love Him. It’s an opportunity to demonstrate our love for Him.
In this message you will see fasting from an entirely new perspective. If you’ve been fasting for years upon years, or if this is the first time you’ve heard of fasting, this message is for you. You will begin to understand the precious wisdom of what fasting is “not about”; what it “is about”; as well as practical wisdom on how to fast.
Today, as you hear this invitation to come and love on Jesus, will you say yes?
