Surprisingly, this hypothesis held true for 60% of our subjects. However, one particular participant exhibited an astonishing response, resembling the effects of a potent stimulant. Upon further examination, it became apparent that this individual engaged in speaking in tongues frequently. Coincidentally, I am acquainted with Andrew Newberg, a respected physician from Thomas Jefferson University, who has extensively studied the brains of Franciscan nuns and Tibetan monks during meditation and prayer. The findings from these studies are truly captivating, as they demonstrate how meditation and prayer help to achieve a harmonious balance within the brain. It is crucial to dispel the misconception that the scientific community is antagonistic towards Christianity, as evidence through imaging reveals that believers display greater activity in the right temporal lobe compared to non-believers.
