Loving God, Loving Others and Leading Others to do the Same

Marriage for God’s Sake & the Children’s Sake

Through many years in law enforcement and ministry, I have seen firsthand the devastation that broken marriages can leave behind: wounded spouses, divided homes, and children carrying pain they never chose. I have watched some of those children turn toward the darkness of this world, searching for belonging while struggling with the loss of stability in their own families.
For too many people—even within the church—God’s design for marriage has become something to dismiss rather than honor. We still celebrate weddings, but are we teaching people how to live faithfully in the covenant they are entering? Are we preparing husbands and wives to love, serve, forgive, and obey God—or simply helping them plan a ceremony?
When marriages unravel, the consequences reach far beyond two adults. Mothers and fathers struggle. Children may find themselves moving between households, missing a parent, and wondering where they belong. Another marriage does not automatically heal those wounds, and unresolved problems can follow people into the next relationship.
The church cannot afford to remain silent, wink at sin, or embrace a culture that treats marriage and family as disposable. We must speak the truth and walk alongside hurting families, holding husbands and wives accountable while offering practical help, compassion, and hope.
I believe the unraveling of our families is helping unravel our nation. More money, bigger homes, or another relationship cannot repair what requires repentance, healing, and a return to God’s ways.
That is why I am sharing this series: Marriage for God’s Sake & the Children’s Sake. Whether you are married, considering marriage, or living with the wounds of a broken marriage, I invite you to examine God’s design with us.
We must look beyond what we want today and consider what our choices leave in the lives of our children tomorrow.
