LISTEN NOW! (Or WATCH FULL PROGRAM!) There was a day when Communism was a credible and real threat to the Democracy of America. Now, in present day, has anything changed? Some would say yes; that Communism is a thing of the past. But, is it really? Here we are today, all these years later, and Communism is being brought to the forefront of discussions as a credible threat to the way of life in America. In 2014, Dr. Ben Carson was interviewed on the Kelly File and he shared about how these threats have materialized in present day America.
Dr. Ben Carson talks about the exceptionalism of this great nation, but there have been others in recent history who have also been exceptional: Greece and Spain, just to name a few. As Dr. Carson continues, these nations began making decisions that would result in their demise. “They became enamored with sports and entertainment, lifestyles of the rich and famous, they tolerated political corruption, they lost their moral compass, they lost their vision. These are all the things that are happening to us.” Dr. Carson points out that we are a Judeo-Christian nation and we have the evidence of history to make the right decisions in our situations so that we don’t follow down the same paths.
It is important to recognize the immense freedom that God has afforded us to be privileged to be in America. We can use this power of freedom for evil or for good. America stands for good and so many good things have come from this great nation. Yes, we’ve made mistakes. As Dinesh D’Souza elaborates, in great detail, in his movie, America: Imagine the World Without Her, that America has made mistakes, but compared to other nations in the world, America has accomplished astonishing accolades.
With this reality in mind, Megyn Kelly comments on the empty roles of other nations who could replace this void if America would step back from the role it presently fills. “When Europe can afford to sit back, because we have America that has our back. America doesn’t have the same luxury. No one is going to step in, no one good, if we step back and wait for somebody to fill this void.” Look at what took place when America rescinded from its place of leadership in the world over the last eight years. ISIS reared its evil an ugly head throughout the world. Soldiers are beheaded in London. Journalists are beheaded. Evil loves a vacuum. The reality is this, we have difficult days ahead of us. The Benham Brothers shared about the difficulty of the days ahead for America and have said that bloodshed is coming to America. But, it’s not for the reason one may think.
According to Charisma News, Jason and David Benham, authors of Whatever the Cost, state “bloodshed is coming to America, and it won’t be a response to oppression but the result of aggression—against God and our constitutional form of government”. The ensuing battle is not in warfare on the battlefield, but in the public arena. As the article continues, “The increasingly violent acts in our streets, town-hall meetings and university campuses are simply birth pangs for a greater upheaval that’s brewing hot—and it’s not by accident.”
The Benham brothers point to a book that was presented to Congress in 1963 Rep. A.S. Herlong, Jr. of Florida: The Naked Communist. “He submitted the book’s list of goals, which revealed how revolutionaries intended to turn our nation from constitutionalism to communism without firing a single bullet.” Dr. Carson points to the same book in his interview with Megyn Kelly after he is asked about the dangers of divisiveness in America.
“There are elements within our society, whose only desire is to drive a wedge into any little crack that they can find. Therefore: race wars, income wars, age wars, gender wars, religious wars…” When Kelly interrupts to ask how damaging all of this is, Dr. Carson retorts, “It’s extremely damaging. A house divided against itself cannot stand”. He then points to the purpose of why these ‘wedges’ are taking place; “is to make people throw their hands up in disgust, say ‘this isn’t working. We need to move to another system’”. These are the very teachings and methodologies that are being implemented to push America to Communistic structure.
Dr. Carson points to people like Saul Alinsky and Karl Marx and their writings that verify these very tactics. As Dr. Carson begins to explain how all of this is also found in the book The Naked Communist, he elaborates on why it is applicable. “It laid out the whole agenda. You would think, by reading it, that it was written last year, showing what they’re trying to do to American families, what they’re trying to do to our Judeo-Christian faith…”
Some may casually remark that this would never happen. But, when we begin to look at just A FEW of the goals listed in the book, you may be shocked as to how effectively these goals have not only been implemented, but also accomplished in America. Following are some of the goals:
17. Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers’ associations. Put the party line in textbooks.
18. Gain control of all student newspapers.
19. Use student riots to foment public protests against programs or organizations that are under Communist attack.
20. Infiltrate the press. Get control of book-review assignments, editorial writing, policy-making positions.
21. Gain control of key positions in radio, TV and motion pictures.
24. Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them censorship and a violation of free speech and free press.
25. Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio and TV.
26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as normal, natural, healthy.
28. Eliminate prayer or any phrase of religious expression in the schools on the grounds that it violates the principle of separation of church and state.
29. Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis.
30. Discredit the American Founding Fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the common man.
31. Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history on the ground that it was only a minor part of the big picture.
32. Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture—education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics and others.
40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.
42. Create the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspects of the American tradition, that students and special-interest groups should rise up and use a united force to solve economic, political or social problems.
As we read through each of these, we can honestly say to ourselves, ‘check’, ‘check’, ‘check’. They have all been carried out in America AND justified as normal. They have become normal, and then find yourself threatened if you express yourself as one who has views contrary to these. If we remove God out of the public square, we will not like the consequences.
Harvard Business School’s Clayton Christensen describes his encounter with a Marxist Communist from China who was completing a scholarship. After asking the student if he learned “anything surprising or unexpected”, Christensen was surprised to receive the response the student gave. “I had no idea how critical religion is to the functioning of democracy.” He continued to share, “the reason why democracy works is not because the government was designed to oversee what everybody does. But rather, democracy works because most people, most of the time, voluntarily choose to obey the law. And, in your past, most Americans attended a church or a synagogue every week and they were taught there by people who they respected.” This student understood that Americans did this because “they weren’t just accountable to society, they were accountable to God”. Taking all of this in, Christensen expressed a concern that he had seen and noticed from his own life’s experiences. “As religion loses its influence over the lives of Americans, what will happen to our democracy?” He continues his thoughts; “what will happen to the institutions that are going to teach the next generation of Americans that they too need to voluntarily choose to obey the laws? Because if you take away religion, you can’t hire enough police.”
If we pull God out of our society, we will have no boundaries. Without the Constitution there are no laws, and without God there is no obedience to those laws. While continual voices want to voice criticism about our forefathers, we must remember that we have our country because of them. We cannot continue to yell at darkness. We must understand, as the Church, that we are called to transform our culture for the Kingdom. We must recognize the 7 Mountains of Culture and play our role where God has called us to. We must recognize that while voices in different areas of society are ridiculing and criticizing what has been established in America, we must walk in agreement with the plans and purposes of God.
