End Times, End of the Age, Facebook, Social Media and Citizen Score? Is this Where We are Headed?

It is hard to go through any day without coming into contact with technology. For many, the awareness and use of Facebook is an everyday occurrence. What some may not be aware of is the recent statement from Facebook’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg. Particle News writes, “Facebook already owns tons of data based on the data and information that its 1.7B daily active users share on the online platform that bears it name. Facebook (the firm) also owns the biggest messaging app, WhatsApp with its 900M daily active users, it owns Messenger with its 700M Daily Active Users and it owns Instagram. Mark Zuckerberg says Facebook will become better than humans in the next five to ten years.”This is a profound statement that has major implications. At the end of the age, one of the key factors will be the economy. Mark Zuckerberg is a businessman, and he wants to increase the presence of his business. Facebook is not currently in China, but he wants it to be.

With the increasing usage of social media, more and more information is easily gathered in order to market to individuals. Most people in America are familiar with a credit score, some may even be aware of what their own credit score is and how it impacts them. Can you imagine having a “citizen score”? Reportedly, this is what is taking place in China. China is approximately four times the size of the United States. Some recent developments in China may raise some concerned eyebrows. “Sesame Credit” like the Credit Score in the west, is designed to create a score for all of its participants, “for how good of a citizen you are. Instead of how regularly you pay your bills, it measures how obediently you follow the party line.” If this “point system” were not concerning enough; the point system given to a particular individual can be effected, up or down, based on who they associate with, or “who their friends are”.

To heighten the level of creepiness, one’s individual score brings considerable consequences.

“Having a high score gives you special benefits, like making it easier to get the paperwork you need to travel, or making it easier to get a loan. Now, currently there is no consequences about having a low score, but there’s been talk about implementing penalties once the system becomes mandatory in 2020. Penalties like slower internet speeds, for low scoring citizens, or even restricting the jobs that a low scoring person is allowed to hold….because this is all part of a social network, it also scans your friends; so you will lose your points for having friends with low obedient scores; and it tells you this. At any point, anybody can check anyone else’s score, and when you check your own score, Sesame Credit provides a hand map of your friends to show who is dragging your score down….”

You can either be powerful or popular. You can’t be both. Most people are living each day based on what is experienced without the understanding of what it took to get there. How many people sell out God for a job, for comfort, for safety? In his new Book, Army of the Dawn, Rick Joyner shares that, “less than 10% of Christians know their purpose in Christ and even fewer are functioning in their calling.” Do we want to be liked and loved by God, or do we want to be liked and loved by the world?

What is happening across the world is materializing into what is written in Revelation 13. Revelation 13:5-7 highlights the days that are upon the horizon, “The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies and to exercise its authority for forty-two months. It opened its mouth to blaspheme God, and to slander his name and his dwelling place and those who live in heaven. It was given power to wage war against God’s holy people and to conquer them.” Can you imagine 42 months without any restraint on evil? These are the days that we must make a definitive effort to get invested in our relationship with the Lord and build our confidence up, not in ourselves, but in Christ. As the Church, we must be ready, and prepare ourselves now, to endure persecution faithfully.
