Unpacking the San Bernardino Attack: What does this mean for Church and Where do We go from Here?

As the nation continues to process and react to the tragedy that took place in San Bernardino, California, many are still left with questions. Why? CBN is reporting how many in San Bernardino are recovering. Jennifer Thalasinos, who lost her husband, shared, “I actually got an extra hug and a kiss before he left, so I’m just holding on to that.” Further information about one of the shooters, Syed Farook, is being released that he may have had connections to terror suspects.
As further investigations are being carried out in the home of Farook and Tashfeen Malik, the amount of weapons and munitions being found is raising heightened concern, “twelve unexploded bombs, which may have been made based on an al-Qaeda magazine, were discovered; along with 1000’s of rounds of ammunition.”Some of those who lived close to the shooters witnessed peculiar activity. As CBN is continuing to report, “some neighbors didn’t want to report anything because they didn’t want to be accused of profiling.” These are not the actions or events of workplace violence. This was an act of terror.
In another interview with Jennifer Thalisinos, CNN asks about her husband who was a Messianic Jew, one of the 14 who were tragically murdered. “Did he evangelize with this guy, Farook?” Jennifer responded, “I’m sure he would have talked to him, and probably evangelized with him. I’m sure they would have had discussions about religion because my husband would discuss religion with anybody who would listen, and the fact that they were coming from two different backgrounds.” On the heels of these events, leaders in America have expressed those who need to be defended. You may be surprised at the statements made by individuals such as President Obama, U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson, and U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch.

In the wake of all of these events, now more than ever, we must pay attention. Kamal Saleem, once a radicalized Muslim, now a follower of Jesus Christ, has stated, “In 2010, the US Border Patrol reported that nearly 450,000 Islamic Terrorists have crossed into the United States of America…and the numbers are escalating…they want to hurt the United States, specifically the Church”. Is all of this really about the government? Or, is this about the Church? Watch the full report as you are awakened to how we must respond in the wake of these events, and so much more. Also shared in this segment: San Bernardino Shooting, Radical Islam, California, CBN, CNN, Senator Lindsey Graham, humility, and repentance. John and Steve shared in this segment.
