A 70-year Tradition to say the Lord’s Prayer During Graduation Commencement Stopped after a threat to Remove Funding? Watch how the Graduating Class Responds?
After beginning at a school with a decade’s long tradition, can you imagine it all stopping when it was your time to graduate? That is exactly what took place for the graduating class of East Liverpool High School in East Liverpool, Ohio. East Liverpool has continued the tradition of the graduating class singing the Lord’s Prayer during their commencement ceremony for 70 years. According to WTOV9, the prayer “was removed after the school received a notice from the Wisconsin based group ‘The Freedom Foundation of Separation of Church and State’”. That was all it took.
When President of the Board of Education, Larry Walton was confronted with the issue, he replied, “OK. We’ll just not do it anymore…We don’t have a lot of money, quite frankly we’d rather pay teachers than lawyers.” Considering the quick response from administrators, the graduating seniors weren’t so quick to follow suit. During their commencement ceremony, the entire graduating class responded in their own way. Unaware to all of those in attendance, the class began to share the Lord’s Prayer. As they finished their 70-year tradition, the auditorium was promptly filled with a standing ovation by parents and attendees.
This is such a powerful display of what God is doing in this generation. It is so encouraging to see those who know what their First Amendment right is and to boldly stand up for what they believe in; regardless of who is against them. This generation is beginning to get it. This serves as a reminder to never let anyone say speaking of Jesus is wrong or a bad thing. See how the Vice President of the class responded, more from the administrators, the class carrying out their tradition, and so much more. “Jesus Never Scolded Anyone for Coming to Him Because They Wanted a Gift…. If you Find His Hand, look Up, He’s Connected” says Bill Johnson, Senior Leader at Bethel
When someone is seeking of a healing from the Lord or particular provision; whether it be a breakthrough in finances, or in the workplace, some may have heard the response, “don’t seek the hand of God but the face of God”. The question is: is that how Jesus responded? In a recent discussion with Bill Johnson, Senior Leader at Bethel, he addresses how Jesus responded to those that came to Him. “Jesus never scolded anyone for coming to Him because they wanted a gift, instead what He did was provide them with a miracle that directed their heart toward the Father…if you find His hand look, His face is right there.”
Jesus never condemned someone for coming to Him. If someone feels condemned for praying, that is not God. If we ever believe the lie that “God has a problem with me” there are plenty of religious people to line up and agree with that lie. God loves each and every one of us. He loves us so much that He gave His Only Son, Jesus Christ, to die for us.
When we understand what Jesus Christ has done for us, it changes how we pray. This also is embodied in what Johnson shared regarding his own prayers, “I realized I needed to “put a demand” on what I believed – my risk factor had to line up with the boldness of my beliefs. As I did this there was an immediate change in my ministry and we began to see healing and miracles increase.” If we are not seeing the same effects in our prayer, we have to ask what is hindering us from walking the same as Jesus did. God is not limited in what He can do. But, we can limit ourselves if our dependency is more on our knowledge than upon God.

Lt. Gen (Ret) Jerry Boykin Fired for Expressing His First Amendment Rights?
As an outspoken leader, speaker, and writer, Lt. Gen. (Ret) Jerry Boykinhas made a tremendous impact in many different areas. Because of a recent Facebook post, the General was fired from his position teaching Military Leadership and National Security at Hampden-Sydney College. When more and more voices are calling for changes of transgender people, Boykin has consistently been against it. It was this post, on his Facebook account, “The first man who goes into the restroom with my daughter will not have to worry about surgery” that cost him his job at Hampden-Sydney College. Boykin remained steadfast in what his beliefs were, regardless of the decision from the college.
When any General speaks, they will usually speak their mind. This is also what took place when many gathered in support of Boykin during his firing from Hampden-Sydney. After the outpouring of support for Boykin and protest of the college’s decision, the college reconsidered their decision. Boykin has since been accepted back to the college for another year.
It is so encouraging to see someone stand up for what they believe in, even if it means losing those standing next to you. The only truth that counts is that we are standing with God. When we stand up for God, we are going to face hardship. Life is not about living a long life, but living a meaningful life. If we are speaking something, we should never be speaking something in a hateful manner, but always considerate to speak in love.

Israeli Navy Carrying out Exercises to Defend against ISIS seizing one of Their Vessels?
ISIS is carrying acts of terrorism along the border of Egypt and Israel. With their growing presence becoming closer and closer, Israel is now carrying out military training exercises to prepare if ISIS were to seize one of their Navy vessels. With the recent downing of the EgyptAir flight, this threat couldn’t be more real. According to reports, ISIS could have been destroyed a long time ago. It is imperative that we stand with Israel. If ISIS does touch an Israeli vessel, we must acknowledge that America has allowed this to happen.
