Home » Are the Days of President Obama’s Organizing Just Getting Started?

LISTEN NOW! During the Presidency of President Obama, the President has been quite vocal about his intentions and plans for what he desires for the country. As the President, that’s what he is supposed to do. Oddly enough, he still has plans to change things in this country AFTER he leaves the White House. In an interview with Rolling Stone, he talked about what some of those plans are.

As Rolling Stone asks the President “But how did the Democrats miss the white working class in such great numbers…”, the President aptly responds, “It’s not quite that simple, because this is not simply an economic issue. This is a cultural issue. And a communications issue…”. As the President continues to talk about the amount of manufacturing jobs that were created during his administration, he points out how social media has caused problems. “One of the challenges that we’ve been talking about now is the way social media and the Internet have changed what people receive as news.” President Obama further points out how important it is, “to think about how we are operating on the ground and showing up everywhere and fighting for the support of folks and giving them a concrete sense of what it is that we think will make their lives better…” Truth is, progressives actually believe that government should be in control of everything. Even though history proves this methodology doesn’t end well, it is insisted upon. Whether it be Socialism, Communism, or Marxism, it all ends up the same.

If someone were to focus solely upon secular news, they may surmise that the world is going to end. But, because of the internet and the exercise of First Amendment rights on the internet and social media, people can know what’s happening in the world through a vast supply of resources. It has been prophesiedthat news anchors will be shaken out of their chairs as they report on current events. When it comes down to it, we cannot rely on government to be “on the ground” seeking to solve problems. This is where the Churchis supposed to be.

While the President is for “progressive” ideas and seeking to make “lives better”, it is important to recognize that government cannot be the answer. This is the mindset of Socialism. The difference of Socialism, Communism, and Capitalism was once taught in the schools of America. Presently, kids are taught that Socialism is a good thing, only to come home shocked when mom and dad expect them to get a job. The parents aren’t wrong. Socialism is wrong. When we look at these interesting responses, it’s important to recognize that President Obama was a community organizer before he was President.

As another community organizer, Marshall Ganz was recruited by President Obama while campaigning for the President. Ganz talks about how a community organizer positions themselves in society when he spoke with Bill Moyer, “Organizers have to be well-integrated schizoids, because you have to polarize to mobilize and depolarize to settle. But without polarizing you’re never going to mobilize anything…” Ganz was quoting Saul Alinsky, who authored the book Rules for Radicals. This is the book that not only recognizes Barack Obama AND Hillary Clinton on the back cover, but also gives a full-page dedication to Lucifer in the beginning pages. Yes, Lucifer.

As both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton were mentored by Saul Alinsky, Hillary Clinton had a different methodology. Alinksy taught that organizing had to be done from the “outside”. Hillary Clinton surmised that it could be done from the “inside”, which she also wrote about in her college thesis, There is Only the Fight”. These realities have to be taken into consideration when someone believes that government can provide all the answers, or, when considering President Obama’s response to the next question.

Rolling Stones asks this to President Obama, “So how do you think we go about stitching the country back together?” Considering President Obama’s term is down to a few days, wouldn’t the next President be the best to answer this question? President Obama has this surprising response, “Well, the most important thing that I’m focused on is how we create a common set of facts. That sounds kind of abstract. Another way of saying it is, how do we create a common story about where we are.” Of all the things to “create”, the President wants to create “facts”? We don’t create facts, they just ARE facts. We research facts. Additionally, why would anyone want to “create a common story”? Doesn’t America already have its own story?

The President also points out how “different sources” of media are proving problematic, stating that there is a “whole movement away from curated journalism to Facebook pages…”. Imagine if the nation listened solely to how the media broadcasted the past Presidential Election. Truth is, the media didn’t know how it was going to end up. While people look to the internetfor news, the President points out, “…in an Internet era where we still value a free press and we don’t want censorship of the Internet, that’s a hard problem to solve. I think it’s one that requires those who are controlling these media to think carefully about their responsibilities, and [whether there] are ways to create a better conversation”. It appears as if the President is wanting to pressurethe leaders of social media giants in order to edit free speech. The President continues to express “It’s gonna require those of us who are interested in progressive causes figuring out how do we attract more eyeballs and make it more interesting and more entertaining and more persuasive”. It is concerning when these “created facts” are wanting to be more “entertaining” and “more persuasive”.

In the President’s final statements during the interview, he shares that “our belief that when you work with people on the ground at a grassroots level, change happens”. We are clearly seeing the teachings of Rules for Radicals happening. Based on what the President is sharing, it appears that these tactics are just getting started. Regardless of what the President’s intentions are, it is important to know what the know what the First Amendment is:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

When we understand this truth, it is important to also understand who the “press” is. According to Dictionary.com, it is described as,

‘printed publications collectively, especially newspapers and periodicals, all the media and agencies that print, broadcast, or gather and transmit news, including newspapers, newsmagazines, radio and television news bureaus, and wire services. a group of news reporters, or of news reporters and news photographers’

Yes, the President does have the right to create whatever ‘facts’ he wants to. There is also the right to be able to identify something as false. Before we change things, it is important to know why things were placed there in the first place. Or as G.K. Chesterton said, “Whenever you remove a fence always pause long enough to find out why it was put there in the first place.”  If someone wants to “fundamentally change” America, the Constitution, we have to look at what events caused it to be birthed in the first place. When we look even closer at such a profound document, we will find that it didn’t start with the Constitution, or the Bill of Rights, but the Magna Carta.

It is important that we not only recognize the truths that America was and is built upon, but so that we can recognize when someone is trying to fabricate something as a “fact”, regardless of what it is, or who it is. Be encouraged in your awareness of America’s founding story, as well as the role of the Church, and so much more.
