False Prophet Crashes 6,000 Pound Ten Commandment Monument; on behalf of God and the Constitution?

When an Arkansas court ruled for the 10 Commandments to be taken down, community members responded by raising their own money to build a replacement of a 6,000-pound monument of the 10 Commandments. According to Inside Edition, the unthinkable happened less than 24 hours later. Michael Tate Reed, 32, was arrested after he decided to run over the monument with his car, and broadcast it live on Facebook. This is not the half of it. Reed then proceeded to create a “Go Fund Me Page” to raise funds to pay for the damages that were inflicted to his car after crashing into the monument. As Inside Edition points out, “Reed describes himself on Facebook, as a born-again Christian who is a Pentecostal Jesus Freak”. Governor Mike Huckabee had his own words of response to Reed’s actions when he tweeted, “Some idiot in my home state broke all 10 commandments at the same time. He wasn’t Moses and it wasn’t Mt. Sinai.”

Why would someone even do this? Just because Reed claimed to have been doing this in the name of Christ, does not mean that he is a follower of Jesus. In John 8:31, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples.” Jesus also gave us wisdom for situations just like these. In Matthew 7:15-20, Jesus also shared:

Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thorn bushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

Being a Christian is not based on what our status says on our Facebook page, or even what we tell people with our words. Who we are is clearly displayed by what we tell people in our actions. The First Amendment of the Constitution allows us to have the 10 Commandments. It is a good thing to be able to have the 10 Commandments, yes, but God wants us to not only read them, but to also put them into practice in our lives.

A lot of strange teachings are being taught in this hour. Just because someone “attends church” or “goes to church” does not make them a Christian. If you have given your life to Jesus Christ, YOU are the Church. YOU are the building of God. Christians are not perfect, they are just forgiven.
