We join Greg and Art Thomas as they continue their discussion on the book Paid in Full, Healing Ministry Activation Manual which Art Thomas is the author. They talk about the fact that we need to be the Church and do what Jesus has told us to do. Art answers the question, what are some of the ways that God heals? He starts with, Luke 9:1 “And he called the twelve together and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases.” Power and authority are the two default tools that we have. Luke 6:19 “And all the crowd sought to touch him, for power came out from him and healed them all.” In Acts 5, Peter’s shadow healed people. Power seems to happen with close contact and authority can happen from far away. Authority flows from being under authority. We get under the authority of God then we as believers can walk in authority and command satan to leave. A good example of being under authority is the Centurion, Matthew 8:9-10 “For I too am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. And I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes, and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” When Jesus heard this, he marveled and said to those who followed him, “Truly, I tell you, with no one in Israel have I found such faith.” Your authority is based on the fact that the Spirit of God dwells in you and your power is based on the fact that you are clothed with the Holy Spirit and endowed with power from on High. Anytime God tells you to do something specific, and you obey, and healing is the result, that is moving in authority. John 6:44 “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him.”
Just because we are successful doesn’t mean we have it all together. In Luke 9, Jesus sends out His disciples. The disciples did not have it all together; they even had to ask Jesus how to pray after He had sent them out. Jesus is so passionate for the lost that He didn’t care if they had it all together. 1 Samuel 16:7 “For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” Model ourselves after Jesus only. We should keep our focus on our relationship with Jesus, and with that will come the power to move in power and authority in our ministry. Through Emmaus Road discipleship you can be equipped to have a strong relationship with Jesus and help move you into healing activation!
Much of ministry is seed scattering; the seed is the Word of God. We can’t just move in healing without sharing the Word of God. We can tie the message to the healing, saying that the healing is proof that God loves you. Plant seed, not just an experience with whomever you minister. The healing opens the door for someone to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Romans 2:4 “Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?” When we minister to someone, and they are healed or set free, that is God showing His love to that person in hopes that will lead them to repentance!
Our identity should stay rooted in Jesus not in the healings that happen through us. Giftings can take you places your character can’t keep you. If our identity is in Jesus, the times where we see no salvation or healings, we are okay because we know Jesus is good and that it is not about us. Through this, our view of ourselves will be good because we know our identity is in Jesus and that He only says good things about us and He loves us no matter what. We constantly have to realize we can all struggle with pride when we minister this way so we have to always seek the place of humility to continue to be used, James 4:6 “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” We must stay dependent on Jesus knowing that it is Him moving through us when we see healings and salvation. We the Church need to be activated into all that Jesus has called us to do! We want to hear from you and what you think about healings and activation.
