In America, we have a great person for our Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, who was over the C.I.A. and has done great things for our country and other countries as well. Secretary of State is the third position of authority in the president’s cabinet which makes this is a very important position. He has great wisdom and is a part of the Bible study that takes place with President Donald Trump’s cabinet members, and it is reportedly the first Bible study in a president’s cabinet in 100 years. We are in a God moment for America and the world because if America is strong and America keeps God over our nation then many nations that have been blessed will continue to be blessed by America. The seat of the righteous will rise, and the seat of evil will come down!
Secretary of State Pompeo is speaking at the Values Voters Summit 2018 and gives insight into what he and his department have been doing for religious liberty for America and the world. “This state department under President Trump is fighting to make sure that American citizens and American interests come first in our foreign policy. At the very heart of our mission is the preservation of human dignity. And this administration understands an eternal truth that each person has an essential worth simply because he or she is human and having been created by God.” He continues with what is written in the Declaration of Independence, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
Secretary of State Pompeo continues, “For Americans, that’s our birthright, freedom, but for many around the world it’s an aspiration. And each of us can do many things to help fulfill that aspiration. Sometimes here in America, we take it for granted. Those of us who are believers don’t see that so many places in the world that simple thing, that belief that we have, is challenged. And I urge each of you to never hide it under a bushel. To understand how important, it is that we speak about this, we speak about faith and freedom in a way that is candid and clear.” He speaks about the fact that we have privilege in America to have religious freedom and that he has worked to get the ‘swagger’ back into the state department which he means to bring it back to its original intent.
“Since the earliest days of his presidency, President Trump has directed all of us in his administration, to advance and defend religious freedom at home and abroad. Because religious freedom is a universal, a God-given right to which all people are entitled…sadly today more than 80% of the global population lives in countries that place significant limitations on religious freedom.” He talks about how 20 Iranians who were secretly Christians had to fly somewhere in secret so that they could be baptized, and one man had waited ten years for that moment! Many horrific tragedies are taking place in other countries of people being persecuted and even murdered for their religious beliefs. He also says that in China hundreds of thousands, possibly millions, are held against their will in re-education camps and endure severe political indoctrination and other abuses. The government in China is also closing churches and burning crosses among other terrible things.
“The greatest highlight of my job to date was bringing home three Americans from captivity in North Korea. It’s emotional still to speak about it. When Kim Dong-chul, Kim Hak-song, and Tony Kim got off our plane at about 2:30 a.m. at Andrews Airforce Base, their faces were bursting with tears of joy, they hugged, and they wept with their families. President Trump was on the tarmac to meet them. I remember the trip well, I remember my hope and my prayers that we would be able to deliver these people home and when they arrived at the airport I was already on the plane, and they could walk, and they appeared to be in reasonably good health. I wasn’t emotionally prepared for the moment, even now as I speak about it, it reminds me of the greatness of our nation. On that flight, they scribbled out a note, and you can see it if you go back and look at the video. One of the men handed me a little note card, and I put it in my vest pocket…when I got home that night I pulled it out and on that index card was Psalm 126 “When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dream. Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy; then they said among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for them. The Lord has done great things for us; we are glad.” As he shares this, you can hear the emotion in his voice. “His (Kim Dong-chul) deliverance gives us hope and energizes our prayers that all those mistreated around the world will endure and one day be free. His story fuels the Trump administration’s commitment to protect human dignity by ensuring that all these with the fire of faith in their hearts to be able to exercise their God-given rights.” He continues speaking of Pastor Andrew Brunson and how they are working hard to obtain his freedom and to return him home. “President Trump will never forget about our own.”
