The Structure of the Church is Family: Is it time to get back to it?

LISTEN or WATCH NOW!

What is family? In these times family is an oddity and the concept of family is being ripped apart! Maybe we have been looking at family the wrong way. We can look at the story of Jesus when he was in a house ministering when his mother and brother came knocking in the door. Some may find it strange how He answered.

“He replied to him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” Pointing to his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers.  For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.” Matthew 12:48-50

What makes the Church family is that we hear our Father and we follow Him. We truly make Jesus the Lord of our life. What does it mean to be the Church truly and to have relationships within it?

John Fenn with Church Without Walls International shares his perspective of what happened to family in the Church. “I like to say that Christianity started as a relationship in Israel when God came to man. It went to Greece to become a philosophy, to Rome to become a religion, to Europe to become a tradition and a part of the culture and to America to become a part of an enterprise.”

People want family so bad, and it is sad to see that the Church in America has become an enterprise. God came to bring us relationship which we can have through Jesus. The Church is the family of God!

“Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.” Romans 8:17

The Church is realizing that we are all family no matter the denomination or the person will transform it into how it was intended to be from the beginning. We can be freed from this enterprise that is called the church in America. We can choose today to ask God with hay, wood, and stubble in our lives and to burn that out of us. In turn, we can be transformed into a Christian who does the will of the Father and lead others to Jesus Christ! Maybe you don’t know Jesus as Your Lord and Savior. You can make that decision today and read our stories of how we made that decision at Meet My Father. We want to hear from you! You can write to us at [email protected].
