The Power of Speaking Faith to the Valley of Dry Bones: The Power of Speaking out Faith Starts with Forgiveness in Your Heart

by

LISTEN or WATCH NOW!

Many times, we may find ourselves in a situation that is different than what we would like to see happening. It could be anything like our family, relationships, environments, and our workplace. Could this be happening because of the words that we are speaking out? We can’t only wait for God to respond to our prayer because He is waiting for us to get in line with His will and ways.

An example we can read in the Bible is in the book of Ezekiel. When God led Ezekiel to a valley of dry bones God told him exactly what to say to the dry bones telling him to declare life into the bones!

“Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life. I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord.”  Ezekiel 37:4-6

Ezekiel had the faith to know that God could cause the dry bones to live again! Do you believe that whatever the ‘dry bone’ situation is in your life, can come to life again? Some people never speak life into anything. Parents may never speak the life-filling words of encouragement over their family. This happens because the only focus is on the present situation and not the potential of what someone can be. Parents should believe that their children will succeed no matter what they see in the physical realm!

We must believe what God says about the ‘dry bones’ in our life! We have the power to speak things into existence! We can lock into our faith with the life-giving words of Jesus and keep our hearts set on what the Lord has said will come, which is life to the ‘dry bones’!

Our words are powerful, and Jesus said that we must speak out words in faith.

“Have faith in God,” Jesus answered.  “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. Therefore, I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.  And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.” Mark 11:22-25

Jesus is telling us to speak to the dry situation in our life and prophesy something that is right! Our family needs to hear positive things from us, and we have the power to move the mountains in our lives. If we search our hearts and find that we have unforgiveness in our hearts, then we must stop and forgive them so that we can be forgiven.

But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.” Matthew 6:15

This is the groundwork to begin the prophecy of being able to speak to ‘dry bones’ and to be able to see the life come back into them.

This still applies even when we are wrongly accused. This is exactly what happened to Jamel McGee of Benton Harbor, MI. While walking along a street, he was approached by officer Andrew Collins who accused and arrested McGee for dealing drugs. McGee shares that it was all made up. According to Collins, he was right. Collins falsified the report.

McGee ended up spending four years in jail because of this encounter. “My only goal was to seek him (Collins) when I got home and to hurt him.” As a result of his actions, Collins also spent time in jail, a year and a half.  This wasn’t the only report that Collins fabricated. Collins was also caught for planting drugs and stealing. After both men ended up serving their time, they crossed paths again. Now, through a faith-based employment agency, both men are working together at Café Mosaic.

When confronted, Collins expressed, “Honestly, I have no explanation. All I can do is say I’m sorry.” In response, McGee says, “That was pretty much all I needed to hear.” When McGee was asked why he forgave Collins, he responded, “For our sake. Not just us, but for OUR sake”, as he spreads his arms meaning “society.” This is such a powerful demonstration of the potential of forgiveness. When we are working with human beings, mistakes are bound to happen. Injustices will happen. We cannot be focused on the debts that others have. When we consider our debt before Jesus Christ, we will quickly forgive others.

To intercede for others, we must understand what the Lord’s will is. Walter Wink said this, “Prayer infuses the air of a time yet to be, into the suffocating atmosphere of the present. History belongs to the intercessors who believe the future into being.” Allow your faith and forgiveness to be greatly challenged as you see how whatever you may be walking through can be greatly impacted by your life-giving words. We want to hear from you! How have you spoken positive words into dry situations in your life? You can write to us at [email protected]. Greg and Steve shared in this segment.
