It is Not What we can do Through Jesus, but What He Can do Through us, as we Abide!

LISTEN or WATCH NOW!

Are you worn out? Have you been trying to do things yourself instead of trusting Jesus? Greg shares how important it is for us to abide with the Lord. We cannot walk through this life in our own strength. It will wear us out! When we abide with Him, which is spending time in His Word every day, hearing from Him, it will give us strength to walk through life. “It is not what we can do through Jesus, but what He can do through us, as we abide with Him!” Jesus said,

“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” John 15:5

Our works and our strength will not get us to heaven! A true follower of Jesus Christ desires to spend time with God by reading His Word, memorizing scripture, listening to Him and what He is saying and then doing it. This is abiding! Many people want to do this but don’t know how! You can get your free plan at iAbide HERE. We want to help you start your abiding journey today! There is nothing like spending time with Jesus.

As Eric Gilmour, with Sonship International, shared on a previous program, “If there is no love unto God, first and foremost, then everything we do is worthless.” He spoke about the Church of Ephesus and how they were doing all the right things and were a powerful church, but they left their first love!

“I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked people, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false. You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary. Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first. Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.” Revelation 2:2-5

Love is not optional in a relationship with Jesus! God so loved us that He allowed His Son to die for our sins. What is the great commandment? Jesus said, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” Love, love, love!

What is love? “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

We cannot hate someone and love God at the same time! We must love people! How do we love God with all our heart? It is being led by the Spirit of God. It is listening to what God is saying and being careful to not quench the Spirit.

How do we love God with all our soul? Our soul is what we think, what we want, and what we feel. What are you thinking about? What are you feeling? Many people follow their feelings! God wants us to have that emotional connection to Him with our soul. We should keep our thoughts on Him, our desire should be for Him, and our emotions should be invested in Him. It is our will submitted to His will!

How do we love God with all our mind? Our minds are like movies where we play memories, and events that happened in our life. Movies can be edited! Parts of your movie can be edited and replaced with new things that are of God! We can play a movie in our mind that honors God and helps our thoughts line up with God’s Word. God already knows what we are thinking, it is not a surprise to Him. He can renew our minds where we have the mind of Christ! We must also be careful who and what we listen to!

How do we love God with all our strength? By honoring God with our tithes and offerings. Giving a tithe and offering represents your physical labor, using your strength by getting paid for it. This is honoring God with our strength! It is exercising our physical body in response to God. He pays attention to everything! It all matters!

Do you feel like you have turned away from God and left your first love? You can turn back today! Read our stories at Meet My Father when we made that decision to turn away from sin and fell in love with God! We want to hear from you! Write to us at [email protected] or in the VFNKB Community HERE. Greg shared in this segment. Check out our YouTube Channel HERE to see more from this conversation!
