NFL Football Player Tragedy brings up Controversy over Gun Control
Over the weekend a recent tragedy occurred, involving a Kansas City Chief Linebacker and his girlfriend.  Javon Belcher shot and killed his girlfriend and later drove to Arrowhead stadium, thanked his coach for all he has done for him and then shot himself dead, leaving their three month old daughter parentless.  Greg, John, and Pat discuss this tragedy, express their condolences and begin to encourage men who are going through life with struggles.  Many men today are going through so many struggles and are facing them alone without relationship with other men but most of all without a relationship with God. They continue to encourage men to get rightly related with other men and to pursue a relationship with God.   They continue to discuss how this tragedy has brought up the controversy regarding gun control.  Bob Costas allegedly took time Sunday afternoon during the football games to comment about gun laws.  Greg, John, and Pat continue to discuss how guns don’t kill people but people kill people.  They continue to share the importance of the second amendment.  As they continue to share God’s news behind the news they share what is happening in San Bernardino, California where the city’s bankruptcies have led them to have to lay off 80 police officers.  As a result the city attorney warned residents according to the Sun to, “lock your doors and load your guns”.  He allegedly says it is the perfect example of why self-reliance is so important; because when the government can’t protect you anymore, you have to be able to protect yourself and family.  They encourage us to stand for our constitutional rights and to remain close to God.
Does it matter what thoughts run in your mind?

Pat and John discuss the power of our thoughts.  Pat shares a story he heard regarding the affects how are inner thoughts have an effect in our outside world.  They continue to discuss how dark thoughts will take you to dark places and that it matters what thoughts we allow to run in our mind.  Thoughts are sometimes like wild horses they may come around and tempt us to mount up but once we do saddle up, those thoughts will take us to place where we don’t want to go.  They continue to share the importance of scripture and about renewing our mind according to Romans 12:1-2.  They remind us that what we think determines, what we do, and what we do determines what we get.  If you don’t like what you have been getting you need to change what you have been thinking and you can do that by setting your mind on things above.

VFN Torch Top 3

John and Pat share about the Top 3 Stories on the VFN Torch on December 3, 2012:

IF you would of listened?

In this moment of wisdom found in Proverbs 1:23 “If you had responded to my rebuke, I would have poured out my heart to you and made my thoughts known to you” John discusses the importance of responding to the Lord’s guidance and correction.  He asks the question, why would God share more with us if we don’t respond to what he first told us to do.
