Grandfathers blow stuff up
Greg and John share funny stories about how both of their grandfathers blew up stuff when they were younger. Greg shares how his Grandfather blew the top off a pressure cooker while cooking collard greens and John shared how his grandfather blew up a shaving cream can while shaving.
God’s Relentless Love for You
Pat, Greg, and John discuss how God has relentless love for us. They discuss Song of Songs 8:6-7 “Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm; for love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame. Many waters cannot quench love; rivers cannot wash it away. If one were to give all the wealth of his house for love, it would be utterly scorned.” God loves us so much. Jesus showed us his love when he died on the cross for our sins. His love is so amazing that death will have no hold on you because God’s love raises us to be with Him if we know Him.
Not Positions of Power but Empowerment, we should seek
Greg, John and Pat discuss how we should not seek positions of power but of empowerment. They discuss the mother of Zebedee’s sons who asked Jesus if her sons could sit at the right and left side of him in his kingdom. Jesus says, you don’t know what you are asking. He asks them if they can drink the cup he is going to drink? It’s important to know that there are cups of suffering and experience that prepare you for leadership positions. These positions are not to serve us but particularly in the church to serve God’s people. If we are in positions of leadership it’s not to have power but to empower and server those we are called to lead.
God Weighs the Heart
In this wisdom moment found in Proverbs 21:20, Greg shares how God weighs our heart and because of this we are totally dependent upon the Lord. We need humility which is defined as total dependence upon God and respect for other people. God resist the proud and gives grace to the humble. It’s important not to be overly confident; Jesus said, blessed is he who is poor in spirit. God puts everything on the scale. It’s totally about what is on the inside of us. He looks at our motives and intentions. Begin to think about how God is bigger than your thoughts, knowledge and experience. He sees and knows all.
