It was considered treason to the British for the King of England, which is a people, not an organization or a building, when the Church would preach and live by the Gospel of Jesus Christ for they placed the King of England over the Church where the Government and the Church became one. To leave the Church of England, to not abide by their traditions or philosophies even though it was the Gospel Jesus Christ, was considered treason.
