LISTEN NOW! Greg and Pat discuss the life of Joseph the 11th son of Jacob who was his favorite, because he was born from his wife Rachael whom he loved and had asked originally to marry but was tricked into marrying her sister. Joseph’s older brothers where jealous of him because of the attention he received from their father. Greg and Pat go on to share Joseph’s journey from being sold into slavery by his brother’s because they hated him to being falsely accused of a sex crime to being sent to prison.
There were two ways Joseph could have responded to his brothers… 1 he could have sought revenge, kill them or even get angry with God or 2nd he could forgive his brothers, love them and realize that all things are Father filtered and what they meant for evil God meant for good. Joseph chose the 2nd way to respond and His name is one of the 12 names that are written on the gates of heaven. 1John 3:15 says, “anyone who hates their brother is a murderer and you know that no murderer has eternal life…” If you heart cringes at the name of someone whose name is on the doorway of heaven, you will not enter in. Jesus said all men will know you are my disciples if you love one another. Matthew 6:14 Jesus says, if you do not forgive their sins, your Father will not forgive yours. Joseph understood this and after going through the storm he was able to tell his brothers in Genesis 50:19-20 … “Don’t be afraid. Am I in the place of God? You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. God was bringing something about in their lives’; forgive, so that you can enter in. God is always in the place of God… The person who gave you a hard time on earth, their name might be written on the foundation of your mansion.
