They discuss Joy Dawson’s book on Intimate Friendship with God; Through the Understanding of the Fear of the Lord. Joy says in her book that “The fear of man is being more impressed with man’s reaction to our actions than with God’s reaction. When we have the fear of God upon us, we are impressed only with God’s reaction.” Proverbs 29:25 says “The fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord will be kept safe.” They discuss King Saul’s journey and how he feared the people more than he feared God. Saul because he didn’t have process in his life never dealt with the fear of man and in the end God wound up repenting that He ever made Saul King. When we fear man instead of God we serve man instead of serving God. The only way to be set free from the approval of man is to only be concerned with God’s reaction to our actions.
