LISTEN NOW! Greg, John and Pat discuss how the time has come when many today have itching ears for false doctrines and teachings and are continually seeking a word from Reverend “Feel Good”. They continued to discuss some of the truth shared by Francis Chan when he spoke at the One Thing Conference at the International House of Prayer. Francis shared how he wished he could spend the next two hours begging his listeners to read the Bible. He shared how you can’t know God apart from His word. That you must know the truth because people will lie to you and sometimes you will want them to lie to you. How will you know if someone is lying to you if you are not in the truth, the word of God? The apostle Paul instructs his spiritual son Timothy in the book named after him in the Bible in 2 Timothy 4:2-5 “ Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.” Francis continues to share how bad desires lead to bad theology and the following of myths as opposed to the truth. Many people are looking for the Bible to confirm or give permission to their desires and seek out what their itching ears want to hear. They are looking for a word from Reverend “Feel Good”. They further discuss how some in the church will criticize a false teacher all the while they were the ones who searched them out and continue to stay under their teachings. The time has come when men are not putting up with sound doctrine and will turn their ears away from the truth to follow myths. Men that are enticed by their own evil desires turn away to follow lies and the end result of following lies always end in some sort of death. So what do we do? We abide with Jesus. We read his word and hide His word in our heart.
