Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Greg, John, and Pat honor the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. They to share how Dr. King was an American apostle that led the country back to the original intent of the U.S. Constitution. They discuss the importance of having a right perspective regarding the history of our nation. They share that for a large percentage of American history approximately 522 years from the time the country was founded up until the civil rights era and the election of President Barak Obama the nation has had a history of being unjust to African Americans. They further discuss the importance of Dr. King and his plight for justice for all mankind. They continue to ask what would have happened if instead of President Kennedy trying to appease racist governors he would have flatly and undeniably said to those governors “this is wrong”, it’s racism, and in certain cases (as it pertained to the law) it was unconstitutional, what would have happened. Would he have done things differently if he knew he had a short time left to live? Many career politicians, (once elected) are tempted to try to hold on to power not knowing that he would shortly lose his life Jesus died for all the “ethnos” nations of the world. How can one who says he knows Jesus hate his brother? It’s simple; they can’t. Dr. King didn’t’ change his message. He kept the truth on the forefront. We must remember as we gain a full perspective of American history.
The God who has walked in your shoes
Greg, John and Pat discuss how God is the God who has walked in your shoes. The God who truly empathizes with us and truly understands what we go through in life as His creation. Jesus came to earth and one of his functions was that of the High Priest. He did not come in the order of Aaron but rather in the order of Melchizedek. He did not offer blood like High Priest of old that would only cover sin but instead offered his own precious blood that would completely destroy and erase sin in our lives. Jesus is your High Priest who explains you to God. He was all God and all man. He walked on earth 33 years laying down his Godhead to walk as a man to identify and empathize with you. In fact the Bible says that Jesus was tempted in every way yet was without sin. Jesus loved us so much that He laid down his life for us. Hebrews 4:15-16 tells us “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” They encourage us to walk like Jesus walked and take time and make the effort to empathize with others. Truly getting outside of yourself to understand and feel the pain of others.
