People are NOT their Gifts: Don’t Worship people or their gifts WORSHIP GOD
Greg, John, and Pat discuss how people are not their gifts and how we are not to worship people or their gifts but rather God. They continue to discuss how people have many gifts. Some have the gift of administration, some helps, leadership, and others music and being able to sing just to name a few. However, a wrong mindset has crept into the church where people and their gifts are being worshipped. They further discuss how this same approach did not work well for Lucifer as he thought it was about his gift, worship, and ended up being kicked out of heaven by God with a third of the angels. What Lucifer found out was it’s not about our gifts it’s all about God. They encourage worship leaders to make their worship about God and not about them or their gift. Our gift is not that important when looking at the big picture.
Did Jesus have a worship leader? Did he even have an instrument? Was there anything wrong with Jesus’ ministry?
The answer is no. Just because people organize around you and puff your gift it doesn’t make it right. If you are a worship leader don’t hinder God’s worship and return to a heart of worship. Ask the Lord to forgive you and worship Him.
Honoring God’s Still Small Voice
John and Pat discuss the importance of honoring God’s still small voice. Many people say they would like to hear God’s voice at the same time they are expecting him to speak in an audible voice or in a loud and obvious demonstrative way. However, they share that it has been their experience that when they hear God’s voice it is often a still small voice. 1 Kings 19:11-14 “The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.” Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave. Then a voice said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” They continue to share that many have heard God’s voice but have discredited it and have missed what God has been saying to them. Another reason many are not hearing God’s voice is because they are expecting God to give them long detailed messages, however they share how it has been there experiences as well as some in the Bible that God often speaks few words. As we obey what God says to us we will find the more He will tell us but if we don’t obey what God is saying then why should He say anything else. John shares in account regarding a time when he heard God’s still small voice and obeyed the Lord. He continues to share that while driving he heard the Lord say to him to go and see President George W. Bush at the civic center since he was in town for an election rally. John at first thought this might be peculiar since it was about ten minutes before the President was due to arrive and John was not only about 10 minutes away from the location but also did not have an entrance ticket to get in. John shares in detail all the things the Lord did as John obeyed the Lord’s voice. John not only was able to receive a ticket to get into the civic center but eventually was able to sit in the front row of the best section. While there John did not know exactly at the time why he was there however, but after the President spoke and was leaving the platform he turned around to wave at the people and stood directly in front of John. John instinctively pointed his finger at the president as to get his attention and tell him that “we are praying for you” the President of the United States looked right back at him and said thank you. They continue to share about all the things the Lord wants us to do but we must honor Him by honoring the fact that he speaks to those who are His.

John and his wife bike ride through Central Park: humor
John, Greg, and Pat talk about John and his wife’s recent bike ride as they celebrated their anniversary. John shares how much they enjoyed taking in the beautiful park the beautiful intentional landscapes. John describes how he took out his phone to take pictures of his wife riding her bike with one hand and pressed the brakes with the other causing the front tire to stop on a dime resulting in the back tire to go completely up launching John over the handle bars a few feet. Although it sounds and looked bad John is grateful he wasn’t hurt at the same time couldn’t help laughing at himself especially shortly after he fell again trying to take on a large hill only to fall on his wife and her bike. They laughed so much. It was long before he got the hang of it and they enjoyed a wonderful day together celebrating their special day.
