LISTEN NOW! If you were to ask people what the most common item that is stolen by shoplifters; you may be surprised to find out the answer. Meat. With the soaring costs of food, more specifically meat, it is causing people to steal what was once easily afforded. According to a report by cbslocal.com, “1 in 11 will steal something”. Does this sound surprising? With many Americans on fixed incomes, it’s extremely difficult when the costs of daily expenses continues to rise. “You only have so much money you can spend on groceries, so if the cost of ground beef goes up 30 percent to 40 percent, you have two ways of eating beef — eating less, or in this case, stealing it.”
