He Aborted over 1,200 Babies and Tells all Why He Stopped! Gripping Conversation with Former Abortionist. Plus Medical Animation Videos that Show Abortion Procedures at each Trimester
The ending of abortion in America has become a rising cry of prayer asking that the Lord would stop. In order for us to pray to end abortion, we must first understand the truth and realities of abortion. Lyla Rose, President of Live Action, has recently sat down with a former abortionist, Dr. Anthony Levatino, about his story and the realities of abortion. Dr. Levatino is a practicing OB/GYN doctor who has conducted more than 1,200 abortions. What makes Dr. Levatino stand out amongst his peers, is his open refusal to conduct any more abortions; AT ALL.
In an interview with Dr. Levatino, he shares about the tragic day that he lost his 5-year-old daughter, Heather, when she was hit by a car. What is even more tragic and traumatic, is that he and his wife were riding in the ambulance as Heather died, in his arms. “What do you do after a disaster? You bury your child and take some time off and then you try to get back into your life.”What he didn’t know at that time was that his life would never be the same.
Dr. Levatino continues to share about the days after the loss of his daughter when he went to work, like he has “over 100 times before”. While in the middle of an abortion, after pulling out a baby’s limb, he shares how this moment was different.
“I got sick. I literally got sick…but I looked. I really, for the first time in my career, really looked at that pile of baby parts sitting on a table…I didn’t see what a wonderful doctor I was helping her with her problem. I didn’t see her wonderful right to choose and I didn’t even see the $800 cash I just received in 15 minutes. All I could see was somebody’s son or daughter. And suddenly this was looking really different to me.”
The days ahead were not easy. Initially the mindset of simply ‘getting over it’ came but it just didn’t stick. “A change had come that I just couldn’t take back.” He decided that he would never conduct a “Second Trimester D&E Abortion”. At this moment he would only do the first trimester abortions. But these were also difficult as the third trimester abortions were. Once the sanctity of life is understood, it is all the same, regardless of how big or how small the baby is.
These realities also came alongside a woman who had “adopted” Dr. Levatino. She was a “pro-lifer” who had become one of his patients, not to have an abortion, but simply for her annual check-ups. It was after these check-ups that she would calmly ask, “Can I talk to you?” She then shared why she was really there. “I’ve been sent here to give you a message that Jesus loves you, He cares about you. This is not what He had intended for your life to be an abortionist. Please stop.” When her next check-up arrived, she had the same message. But, during the year she also sent cards written with the same message, as well as brownies; also including the message. This was a drastically different approach from the traditional picketers who would stand outside of his office. To this day, it was this encounter that stood out to him the most and has had the biggest impact on his life. What he didn’t know, she was also one of the picketers.
When we think of the word “abortion” some have many different thoughts of what it entails. Dr. Levatino shares that abortions are also done in the First Trimester, when mothers are given an oral pill, called, “Mifepristone” or “RU-486”. Since the passing of Roe vs. Wade in 1973, more than 50 million abortions have been conducted. With the inclusion of abortions done by taking a pill, these numbers are much larger. There are also abortions done during the Second Trimester; Dilation and Evacuation (D &E); and the Third Trimester; Injection and Stillbirth.
We must be educated about these realities. In order to be educated, we must be able to dialogue about the truths of Abortion. Prager University provides answers to this by asking some powerful questions: Does the human fetus have any value and any rights? On what moral grounds does the mother alone decide the fetus’s worth? Why does one person, a mother, get to determine if that being has any right to live? Aren’t there instances in which just about everyone would acknowledge that an abortion might not be normal? There are many organizations whose daily purpose is to educate others about the horrible realities of abortion. We can pray, we can get involved in such organizations, one can even “adopt an abortionist” as this one woman did to Dr. Levatino.
Often times we can look at an abortionist and think that they, themselves, are the enemy. We must always remind ourselves that the devil is our enemy. Jesus Christ died so that ALL abortionists would have the same awakening moment, to find life in Jesus Christ, and that ALL abortions would stop. Watch more from this interview, be educated about the realities of abortion, how to dialogue the truth, and so much more.
