There are major changes happening every day in our nation that is contradicting the very Judeo-Christian beliefs that America was founded upon. It is important to remember that a nation is nothing more than a reflection of the people within it, and the commonly held beliefs and values of those people. Why are we seeking the decisions that are being made in our nations that are out going against God? In a recent study Pew Research Center’s Religious Landscape Study, some shocking findings are being made known.
There are not only many people in America, there are also specific generations that make up those people. It is the passing on of ideas and values from one generations to another that common held beliefs stand the test of time. According to Pew Research, “The share of U.S. adults who say they believe in God… slipped to 89 percent in 2014 from 92 percent in 2007.”Even more shocking, the report continues, “The proportion of Americans who say they are “absolutely certain” God exists fell even more, to 63 percent in 2014 from 71 percent in 2007.” Another perspective of that reality is that 29% of Americans do not fully believe that God exists. Now you can see why the culture is moving in the direction that it is. In addition, “The trend is most pronounced among young adults, with only half of those born from 1990 to 1996 absolutely certain of their belief in God, compared to 71 percent of the “silent generation,” or those born from 1928 to 1945.” If a generation is being deemed as the “silent generation”, that means we are not telling others about the Gospel, we are not telling others who Jesus Christ is.
