The Best of Times and the Worst of Times
In this world, we can have the best of times and the worst of times at the same time. Any mother fully understands this paradigm. There are obvious birthing pains that are on the horizon for an expectant mother. In this understanding, there is also the overwhelming joy of new life that comes as well. Looking around the world, it is obvious to see that birthing pains are happening but it is in these difficult experiences and moments of hardship that also bring about great times of joy. “For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2
Jesus took on our sin and shame so that no matter what is going on in the world we can live a life free of sin when we repent of our sin and accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Because Jesus endured the cross for the joy on the other side, we can follow His example and through the trials that we face we can face them for the joy that is on the other side of the pain! When people face these trials, it causes them to turn to God because there is nowhere else for them to turn which turns the bad trials into a good thing because it brings people to redemption and salvation. God is doing something powerful in America and the world. We can continue to pray for the turning of our nation and the world to God. #WisdomMoments Discipline Awaits the One Who Leaves the Path
In this wisdom moment, we uncover what the path of a believer is.
“Stern discipline awaits anyone who leaves the path; the one who hates correction will die.” Proverbs 15:10
What path is the scripture referring to? “Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” Jesus’ teachings are the path that believers are to walk on! The Word of God lets us know where we are on the path and where we are in life. It will light up our path so that we know where we are walking.
When we become believers, we must start on the path of discipleship to learn how to stay on this path and to stay rightly related to Jesus. When the Lord leads us, it is a straight path; it is not complicated.
“Listen, my son, accept what I say, and the years of your life will be many. I instruct you in the way of wisdom and lead you along straight paths. When you walk, your steps will not be hampered; when you run, you will not stumble.” Proverbs 4:10-12
America’s Church has left the path of discipleship, and the Proverbs says she will have stern discipline. The Church must turn back to the path and be discipled and learn the ways of Jesus! Discipline is to help to change a person’s ways and discipline from God should lead us to draw closer to Him. Even Jesus had to learn obedience through His sufferings!
“Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him and was designated by God to be high priest in the order of Melchizedek.” Hebrews 5:8-10
When we go through sufferings in life, we become a source for others to come to Christ. Stay on the path! If you have not been discipled, get discipled today! Maturity in Christ- Believer to Sonship: Rick Joyner
Rick Joyner, with MorningStar Ministries shares how to become mature in Christ. “I think we have to admit that very few Christians are disciples. That is what the Great Commission was; it wasn’t to make converts it was to make disciples. When we are born again, that is just the beginning…it is where we start from, that is not the goal, it is the beginning. After becoming disciples, I believe there is another level of maturity, and that is to become a bondservant. I think there are even fewer that would qualify there. A true bondservant does not live for themselves. They don’t own anything. Everything they have they are a steward of and they don’t consider anything their own even their time…they wake up, “Master what would You have me do today? “
Rick continues speaking about how the next level is becoming a friend. “The Lord said to His disciples, “I no longer call you servants but friends.” There was a point where they graduate to a whole new level of relationship to Him. But they were still His servants too! You don’t quit being a servant. You don’t quit being a disciple. You just grow into another level. And of course, the ultimate is sonship. Where we really become members of His family. And those are the ones who can really write checks from His account, make declarations.” He talks about how these are the ones that can speak to a mountain and tell it to move to the sea and it will move.
“We want to grow up in Christ. Our goal as Christians is to be like Him and do the works that He did.”
How many people say that they are believers but are not truly His disciple? It costs us everything to be a disciple of Jesus. We must trust Him to know that He will provide for all our needs and then once He is the Lord of our lives, and we follow His teaching we are truly His disciples! To become a bondservant of Jesus, we spend time with Him every day! He will reveal things to us as we spend time with Him, abide with Him. Then we become friends of Jesus and then enter the sonship with Father God!
