Sanctuary Cities and the Bible
President Donald Trump states how he is working “to make America safe again” by removing dangerous illegal immigrants. It seems that many in America are not wanting to have this done. Many cities are responding stating that they will be a sanctuary city and take in illegal immigrants and protect them. In the Bible, Joshua 20 talks very specifically about a City of Refuge. When talking to Joshua in verse 2, the Lord says, “Tell the Israelites to designate the cities of refuge, as I instructed you through Moses, so that anyone who kills a person accidentally and unintentionally may flee there and find protection from the avenger of blood.” Yes, God did start sanctuary cities, but He gives specific instructions on who is allowed to be kept safe in the city of refuge. The Lord continues His directions to Joshua in verse 4; “When they flee to one of these cities, they are to stand in the entrance of the city gate and state their case before the elders of that city. Then the elders are to admit the fugitive into their city and provide a place to live among them. They are to stay in that city until they have stood trial before the assembly and until the death of the high priest who is serving at that time. Then they may go back to their own home in the town from which they fled.” God wanted Sanctuary Cities to be put in place so that people had a place to run to when they did not break the law.
President Trump is working to secure our country and to keep us safe. He is using legal measures to do this and the court system in America is key in how this process works. Let us stand with our president and support him and pray for him as he is working hard to keep all Americans safe and to secure our country once again. Elon Musk – Universal Basic Income – Few and Fewer Jobs that a Machine cannot do Better
We join an interview with Elon Musk who is being interviewed at the World Government Summit. He answers the question, what to do with mass unemployment? He answers that there should be a universal income so that even if someone isn’t working they can still be paid. “There will be fewer and fewer jobs that a robot cannot do better.” Because of everything moving toward robots producing everything and doing normal jobs then everything will be cheaper. When our jobs are taken away then we aren’t able to find value in work which is where many find value. “There is nothing better for a person than that he should eat and drink and find enjoyment in his toil. This also, I saw, is from the hand of God.” If we had millions of idle people in our nation and the world it would not be good. When someone takes away your ability to work it is taking away what God has designed you to do. God has made us to live a productive fruitful life.
Elon continues to share about how he believes we, humans, are already like cyborgs. When we die we leave behind a “digital ghost” because everything that is online is still there. Because of this he believes that “we will see a merger between biological intelligence and machine intelligence. A computer can communicate at a billion bits per second. But, your thumb can maybe do 10 bits/second, or 100 if you’re being generous…So, some high bandwidth interface to the brain, I think, will be something that helps achieve a symbiosis between human and machine intelligence, and maybe solves the control problem and the usefulness problem.”
Elon is saying that there will be some way our brain will be able to connect to the internet! Reportedly, Ray Kurzweil is already working on a brain cortex that connects to the internet. Instead of having to type our search queries into Google, we will simply be able to think what we are searching for.
