turning your ear to wisdom
and applying your heart to understanding,

and cry aloud for understanding,
and if you look for it as for silver
and search for it as for hidden treasure,
then you will understand the fear of the Lord
and find the knowledge of God.
LISTEN NOW! In this moment of wisdom found in Proverbs 2:1-5 John shares how as Christians we play a role in our relationship with God. It has been said that our first step determines God’s next step. In the first verse of Proverbs 2 we find the word “if”. The word if, is defined as proving, assuming, supposing , granting, as long as, in other words it means conditional. In the first five verses in this chapter instructs us on several things for us to do to grow in the fear of the Lord.
My son, if you accept my words
and store up my commands within you,
turning your ear to wisdom
and applying your heart to understanding,
and if you call out for insight
and cry aloud for understanding,
and if you look for it as for silver
and search for it as for hidden treasure,
then you will understand the fear of the Lord
and find the knowledge of God.
