When we look at Harvard Business School, one would think of the repeated business accolades that the college has produced, but not its contributions to religion. Clayton Christensen, a professor at the Harvard Business School recounts a conversation he had with a student who was a Marxist Economist from China. When Christensen asked this student what he had learned, the response he received was not what you might think. “I had no idea how critical religion is to the functioning of democracy. ….The reason why democracy works is not because the government was designed to oversee what everybody does, but rather, democracy works because most people, most of the time, voluntarily, choose to obey the law…..”This is a profound realization and stirring truth for any individual to arrive at. The resulting pondering thought from this encounter is, “If you take away religion, you can’t hire enough police.” We have to remember that there is no democracy without God. Hear the full report from this profound encounter, and so much more. Also shared in this segment: religion, democracy, truth, and business. Greg and John shared in this segment.
Global Call to Prayer for America
Voices of encouragement from Australia and the world are being raised up as a global call to prayer and fasting is being declared for the nation of America. Warwick Marsh and his team are praying from April 30th – May 6th, 2015, for America. Marsh expresses his gratitude and Australia’s gratitude for America’s involvement in World War II which stopped the advancement of communism from spreading through the hands of Adolf Hitler. According to Marsh, “Each year $70 Billion per year, in foreign aid, from, governmental, private, and faith-based institutions to the world.” With these encouraging truths, Marsh also shares a not so encouraging truth that has and is taking place in America, “It has forgotten the rock from which it has been hewn and is falling into moral and spiritual bankruptcy. Moral and spiritual bankruptcy leads to financial and governmental bankruptcy. America is in great danger from within and from without.” Join Australia, the nations of the world, and us, as we pray for America, that God would hear our prayers and heal our land. Hear these exciting words of what is taking place, and so much more. President Abraham Lincoln Declared April 30th 1863 A National Day of Prayer, Fasting, and Humility
These humble words came from a President, 152 years ago, that are still applicable today. Any individual desiring to lead a nation with these beliefs and understandings would be expected to uphold and keep this Judeo-Christian Heritage, and not the antithesis of it. As the chaotic and intensifying moments are increasing throughout the land, it is important for us to find our answer in God; to humbly turn to God in praying and fasting, as Abraham Lincoln did, and not to government. Hear the full call to prayer and fasting and the encouraging truths behind this powerful date in our nation’s history, and so much more. Also shared in this segment: humility, call to prayer, Civil War, division, President Abraham Lincoln, polarization, and repentance. John and Greg shared in this segment.
