10 Things Jesus Did Not Say about Healing in Scripture, Art Thomas

For some, possibly many in today’s current culture who desire to move in the same healing and power, there is significance between what Jesus said we would do and what we may be experiencing. There are so many things taught in regards to healing. Art Thomas has deeply desired the healings that Jesus walked out to be walked out in his own life. After pouring through the Gospels, the Book of Acts, and every scripture that referred to healing, Art went from zero miracles to over 3,000 miracles in five years. Sometimes 100% of the people are healed in his meetings. He even has others do the praying. When Art travels to remote areas, like Africa, to a group of young believers, his delivery is quite simple: emphasizing that Jesus Christ died for you, His blood gives you power and ability to be healed and that you can pray for others to receive the same healings. In America, so much has been taught in regards to healing. As Art Thomas shares and teaches others in America, he often stresses what Jesus DID NOT say more than what He did say.

Of all the different responses that Jesus had to the people that came up to Him and cried out to him, Jesus never said, “I’m sorry but it’s not My Father’s will to heal you”. Everyone that came to Jesus for healing was healed. Everyone that cried out to Him received their answer. It is God’s will for everyone to be healed. Some go to the lengths that God causes people to be sick in order to be healed. Art responds to this with the analogy of people considering a man called a hero that rescues children from a burning building. What if the people found out that man started the fire just for the ability to rescue the people? Crazy, right? Same thing. 2 Peter 3:9 states, “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”

As Jesus walked through the crowds of people, through the villages and streets of the poor, He never said, “No not yet, but next time I pass through the village.” A recurring statement in the Body of Christ is to say that the answer is either ‘yes, no, or not yet”. When Jesus was ministering 2,000 years ago, was He operating in the “NOW” or the “Not Yet”? When it comes to the matter of the atonement, Jesus blood and forgiveness, it is for the now. These are right now things.

So many different urgencies and situations were brought to the reality of Jesus. Sometimes one person sought Jesus, other times there were two, and also crowds came to be healed. One response Jesus never had was, “Too bad, your friends and family don’t have enough faith.” Matthew 17:14-21 details the account of a broken father bringing his son to the arms of Jesus seeking for him to be healed. Jesus never blamed the father. People are walking each day with the weight of sorrow and heaviness for their loved one who is not healed. We are to cast our burdens upon Jesus. In Matthew 25:31-46, Jesus details the response of what it will be for the sheep and the goats and how they responded to the sick, those needy, and in prison. It doesn’t say anything about healing them. Question is; did we care for them?

Amidst the many broken, poor, and lame people that are detailed in the stories throughout the Bible, Jesus never responded by saying, “My Father gave you this disease to make me feel more glorious”. There are many who have accepted the sickness that they are experiencing in their life is from God and they are to simply give God glory for this sickness which will glorify God. By looking at how Jesus responded to the news of Lazarus’ death, we see a drastic difference of how we are to respond. John 11:4 states, “When he heard this, Jesus said, “This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it.” It was not the sickness that was to glorify God, it was the healing of this sickness that brought glory to God!

Sometimes, we need to unlearn some things in order to truly learn and walk out what God desires for us to experience in our lives. It is these realities of how Jesus responded and cared for those around Him that we see more of the compassion and love that He walked in every moment in His life. This is an exciting reality for the Church in this moment, in this hour, to be activated and walk out life upon Earth just as Jesus desires for us to do. GOD WANTS TO USE EVERYONE TO MINISTER HEALING

Art says, in my study of Scripture, I have seen that while Jesus did not heal every sick person He saw, He most definitely healed every single sick person who came to Him, who called out to Him, who was brought to Him, or who had someone else come to Him on their behalf. There were no exceptions, and we know that Jesus came to reveal the will and nature of the Father. Over and over, we find the word “all:”

Matthew 4:24 – News about him spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed, and he healed them.
Matthew 8:16 – When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick.
Matthew 9:35 – Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness.
Matthew 12:15 – Aware of this, Jesus withdrew from that place. Many followed him, and he healed all their sick
Matthew 14:35-36 – And when the men of that place recognized Jesus, they sent word to all the surrounding country. People brought all their sick to him and begged him to let the sick just touch the edge of his cloak, andall who touched him were healed.
Mark 6:56 – And wherever he went — into villages, towns or countryside — they placed the sick in the marketplaces. They begged him to let them touch even the edge of his cloak, and all who touched him were healed.
Luke 4:40 – When the sun was setting, the people brought to Jesus all who had various kinds of sickness, and laying his hands on each one, he healed them.
Luke 6:18b-19 – …Those troubled by evil spirits were cured, and the people all tried to touch him, becausepower was coming from him and healing them all.
Acts 10:38— …God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and…he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.

One realization that has powerfully influenced this ministry is this: Everyone who touched Jesus’ body in faith was healed, and now WE are His Body. I am convinced that when we, as the Body of Christ, begin to collectively carry the ministry of healing, we will see greater results than ever before. In all the meetings where we witnessed 100% results, the miracles happened as the Body of Christ ministered together, rather than one or two people.
