President Donald Trump states how he is working “to make America safe again” by removing dangerous illegal immigrants. It seems that many in America are not wanting to have this done. Many cities are responding stating that they will be a sanctuary city and take in illegal immigrants and protect them. In the Bible, Joshua 20 talks very specifically about a City of Refuge. When talking to Joshua in verse 2, the Lord says, “Tell the Israelites to designate the cities of refuge, as I instructed you through Moses, so that anyone who kills a person accidentally and unintentionally may flee there and find protection from the avenger of blood.” Yes, God did start sanctuary cities, but He gives specific instructions on who is allowed to be kept safe in the city of refuge. The Lord continues His directions to Joshua in verse 4; “When they flee to one of these cities, they are to stand in the entrance of the city gate and state their case before the elders of that city. Then the elders are to admit the fugitive into their city and provide a place to live among them. They are to stay in that city until they have stood trial before the assembly and until the death of the high priest who is serving at that time. Then they may go back to their own home in the town from which they fled.” God wanted Sanctuary Cities to be put in place so that people had a place to run to when they did not break the law.
President Trump is working to secure our country and to keep us safe. He is using legal measures to do this and the court system in America is key in how this process works. Let us stand with our president and support him and pray for him as he is working hard to keep all Americans safe and to secure our country once again.
