American’s Becoming Less Religious? WHY?

by

LISTEN NOW! There are major changes happening every day in our nation that is contradicting the very Judeo-Christian beliefs that America was founded upon. It is important to remember that a nation is nothing more than a reflection of the people within it, and the commonly held beliefs and values of those people. Why are we seeking the decisions that are being made in our nations that are out going against God? In a recent study Pew Research Center’s Religious Landscape Study, some shocking findings are being made known.

There are not only many people in America, there are also specific generations that make up those people. It is the passing on of ideas and values from one generations to another that common held beliefs stand the test of time. According to Pew Research, “The share of U.S. adults who say they believe in God… slipped to 89 percent in 2014 from 92 percent in 2007.”Even more shocking, the report continues, “The proportion of Americans who say they are “absolutely certain” God exists fell even more, to 63 percent in 2014 from 71 percent in 2007.” Another perspective of that reality is that 29% of Americans do not fully believe that God exists. Now you can see why the culture is moving in the direction that it is. In addition, “The trend is most pronounced among young adults, with only half of those born from 1990 to 1996 absolutely certain of their belief in God, compared to 71 percent of the “silent generation,” or those born from 1928 to 1945.” If a generation is being deemed as the “silent generation”, that means we are not telling others about the Gospel, we are not telling others who Jesus Christ is. If we do not pass on the truths and love of who Jesus is, if we do not live out our lives with Christian principles, is it any surprise that they do not believe in God?

Romans 10:14-15 says, “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent?…”If the awesome presence of God is within a specific building, then it is no surprise that people want to go there again and again. But, if God’s awesome, transforming presence is not there, we wouldn’t fault one for choosing not to go there. The only reason why God’s presence is there is because His presence is within those who are believers. God loves the young generation and it is up to us not only to tell them about Jesus Christ, but to live lives that demonstrate the goodness of who God is. Hear about the full statistics that the Pew Research has found in America, and so much more. Also shared in this segment: Catholicism, the nuns, idols, religion, political parties, evangelism, the foolish heart, and love. Greg and John shared in this segment.
