Seasons of the Prophetic: For the Audience of One

We continue the conversation about the seasons of the prophetic. Greg shares about some things he has learned personally and things we can learn from the Word of God and from those that have gone before us. It is important for us to learn more about the prophetic because there is a misconception that the prophetic is something we can’t come close to, but the Lord says He will pour out His Spirit on all people!

“‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.’” Acts 2:16-18

We are not speaking of personal prophets who give personal words constantly at request or offering, which is important, but those who God burns on their hearts a word they are to carry for a season.

“Surely the Sovereign Lord does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants the prophets.” Amos 3:7

It is a word that won’t let them rest, and they carry it like it is the most important thing on the earth because, in truth, every word from God is the most important thing! When we see a prophet in a season of declaring a word, it can be inspiring as they speak with boldness, authority, and passion that can only come from God. Upon God’s call, things shift, yet every season does not last. Seasons come to an end.

We see seasons happen in the natural like weather and sports. Each season has its moment then it changes to the next. For example, if we are in a new season, it would be confusing to talk about a past season like it was still happening.

Greg shares about one season of the prophetic which is focusing on the audience of One. Everything we do should be for an audience of One! God created man in His own image so that He could have a relationship. He wanted Adam and Eve to be satisfied with His presence, and sin has not changed God’s desire. He still wants us to have an intimate relationship with Him, finding satisfaction in His presence!

It is important that moving in obedience to the Lord is our goal, and that is how we love Him, it is not to get approval from man. When God gives us a prophetic word, we deliver that word in obedience because we love Him! Many people may reap benefits from our ministry, which we are grateful for that, but it is God Who feels the love from us being faithful in our seasons! “God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.Nothing you do for God is in vain! People’s reaction to your obedience [love] may make you feel like it is in vain, but it is NEVER in vain when your ministry is done in obedience, which is love for the Lord.

You will have to remind yourself of this often, and it is vitally important that it is all for an audience of One! For God so loved the world that He gave His Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but shall have eternal life. Jesus gave His life in obedience to His Father, an audience of One. Everything He did reflected what His Father wanted! Jesus only did or said what He saw Father God say or do. He drew people closer to God! Rick Joyner said, “A true prophet draws people closer to God; a false prophet draws people closer to themselves.” As a true prophet, we should be leading every person we encounter to an audience of One just like Jesus did!

When we have this revelation that everything we do is for an audience of One, it should set us free to be who God has called us to be and do what He has called us to do! Seasons of the Prophetic: Your Prophetic Season

There are many people that God uses to accomplish His will on earth. If you think you are the only one, then you may not be used much longer. If you are one of the many, remember that we all are called to do what we do for an audience of One, unto the Lord! Greg shares in this season of the prophetic about your prophetic season. It may look and sound nothing like another prophet or a season other people are in.

You cannot allow another person’s season or word to become yours because you heard it from them and not from God! When we hear a prophetic word from someone else, we need to check it out. For example, it may be a word for another region and not for you or your region, and you could hear a word that is for you and you alone, not for anyone else. Don’t mix what God is saying through you with someone else’s word. Also, people are known by their fruit. You can look at a prophet’s life to see if you can receive the word they shared because Jesus said many will prophesy in His name, but He will say He never knew them! God can speak prophetically through a person who doesn’t even know Him! So, we must be careful and walk in fear and trembling as we listen to what God is saying to us in our prophetic season.

This is why it is important to have an abiding relationship with Jesus because as you spend time with Him, He can reveal His plans for you daily! You must stay close to Jesus if you want to succeed in your prophetic season. You can get a free abiding plan HERE and start abiding with Jesus today by learning how to listen to His voice!

When God has given us a word for our season, it does not mean it is a stamp of approval for every situation or person. It may be specifically for one church or one person, so we must listen to the Lord and hear how He is leading us to deliver that word. Don’t be unfaithful in your season, don’t mix your words with somebody else and don’t pick up a word that is not yours and claim it to be yours! You need to give credit to whoever delivered the word. You don’t want to mislead someone if that was not a word from God. Do not miss your season because you want to be found faithful in what God has given you.

How has this helped you to understand your prophetic season? We want to hear from you! Write to us at [email protected] or in the VFNKB Community HERE. Greg shared in this segment.

Seasons of the Prophetic: Same Mouth; Right & Wrong Prophetic Words

Greg shares another season of the prophetic where the same mouth can speak a right and wrong prophetic word. Peter, a disciple of Jesus, is a great example of how this is possible. Jesus asked His disciples, “Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”  This was Peter’s first recorded prophetic word. In his second word, he spoke in response to Jesus foretelling His death, “Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. “Never, Lord!” he said. “This shall never happen to You!” Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, satan! You are a stumbling block to Me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.”  We must pay attention to what people are saying and listen to the Lord!

Some prophets make the mistake of battling other prophets who are being faithful in their prophetic season of their life. They fall for the deceptive lie that they are “all-seeing” and that their “word” is “the word.” Thinking that any other “word” or doing something different than “their word” is wrong. These prophets find themselves delivering a correct word in their personal prophetic season, but at the same time, they battle other prophets who are in their own prophetic seasons. Another way to say it is, they build up and tear down with the same mouth, speaking curses and blessings out of the same mouth. This is speaking against God when someone comes against what God has established. James wrote about this exact thing,

“With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be. Can both fresh water and saltwater flow from the same spring? My brothers and sisters, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.”  James 3:9-12

We must do what God tells us to do with what He has entrusted to us by being faithful in our prophetic season. We must trust God with the results once we have delivered the word. Guarding ourselves against becoming haughty is important because we all only know in part and prophesy in part. God is the One who created us in His own image; He is the One who sent His Son Jesus to live a sinless life and die for us because He loves us. We didn’t die for the sins of the world; it should always be God’s will we desire to be done, not our own. Just as Jesus prayed and taught us to pray, “Our Father, Who is in heaven, hallowed be Your Name, YOUR Kingdom Come, YOUR Will be Done, on Earth as it is in Heaven.”  Even as Jesus pleaded for His Father to take the cup away from Him in the Garden of Gethsemane, He said, “Nevertheless, not My will, but Your will be done.”  When we speak prophetically, we should always want God’s will to come to pass.

As we move in our prophetic seasons, we must be careful and walk in humility with the Lord. Charles Simpson said, “A man often destroys with his character, that which he built with his talents.” We must check ourselves because our flesh can mess things up! Greg shares about Rick Joyner’s book The Final Quest, which, if you have not read, you should. It gives great insight into the spiritual realm. The specific vision Greg shares is when Rick saw Ephesians 6:12 happening. There is a battle happening for the souls of men! In the vision, God wanted people to go to a mountain, but people could not get there because there was fighting amongst the people. The enemy was dropping things on the people which caused believers to infight and become depressed, among other things. Rick was calling the people to come to the mountain, but they could not even see the mountain or hear Rick because of the oppression they were under. They didn’t understand the spiritual fight they were in. We must understand the fight we are in and that it is not physical. Also, we need to be careful with the body of Christ and treat everyone with the love of Christ. Fighting our brothers and sisters in the Lord is of the enemy.

Continuing the vision, Rick was shooting arrows of truth at the demons that were on the backs of the people. The people got offended because they identified with their issue. As we deal with people and deliver prophetic words, we must be careful and do things with kindness because God wants that person or people to be saved from where they are and brought to Him, like in the vision God wanted everyone to come to the mountain.

In another part of Rick’s vision, he saw where several small ministries were spread out in a city, and some believers came against those ministries and were easily able to take them out, which happened because of the infighting among believers. As soon as that happened, a darkness came over the city. They realized that even though those ministries were a small flickering light, they were holding territory and land for God. This should shed light for us to never mess with God’s people!  Why would we ever be against anyone who is for God?

As we go through life and hear prophetic words, we can still receive a word when we know it is from God, even if the vessel/person is not good. Greg also shares how he was in Israel, and an individual kept giving amazing prophetic words, but he was a mess. He called Pastor John Kilpatrick, his pastor, and told him about the word, and he said, don’t worry about it. Even still, that word came to pass! The guy was a mess, but the word he delivered was correct. The enemy will do all he can to mess with the word of God going forth, but we must listen to what God is saying!

We hope you are encouraged by hearing more about the seasons of the prophetic. We want to hear what you think! Have you found yourself in this situation hearing right and wrong words from the same person? Have you been one to do this at a time in your life?
