The Coming Deception That Christians Need to Prepare For, by Vlad Savchu

When the Ancient Lie Returns Through CRISPR, Brain Chips, and the Promise of Godhood

Five Things We Will Learn

  • How Hollywood, Silicon Valley, and modern spirituality are rehearsing the return of the Genesis 6 pattern by celebrating humans becoming more than human.
  • Why the world’s drive toward godhood is ultimately an attempt to defeat death after rejecting the only One who already conquered it.
  • The real state of gene editing and brain-computer interfaces in 2026 and how the same tools that heal can also upgrade humanity beyond its God-given design.
  • How a coming global crisis could position a counterfeit savior to offer technological enhancement that may fulfill the unforgivable mark described in Revelation.
  • The difference between technology that restores what God made and technology that seeks to remake us, and why only the resurrected Christ solves the death problem no laboratory can fix.

A Door Opened That Has Never Closed

In November 2018 a Chinese scientist stepped onto a podium in Hong Kong and announced something the world was not ready to hear. Using the gene-editing tool CRISPR, he had rewritten the DNA of two human embryos—twin girls later named Lulu and Nana. They were born with altered genes. He was sentenced to three years in prison. The twins are still alive. The world looked, blinked, and moved on.

That day a door opened that has never closed. In December 2023 the FDA approved the first medical therapy in history that uses CRISPR to edit a human being’s genes. In 2024 a man with a brain chip played chess online simply by thinking. By early 2026 more than twenty people already walk around with computer chips in their heads, and Neuralink is moving toward mass production later this year.

Every year the line between healing humanity and upgrading humanity grows thinner. This is about what will happen when that line finally breaks.

Jesus said the last days would be like the days of Noah. Ancient cultures from Greece to Sumer, Egypt, India, and the Norse all carry some memory of Genesis 6—gods coming down, heroes born, a flood that changed everything. What many overlook is that modern culture is actively trying to bring that pattern back.

Every Culture Is Waiting for Genesis 6 to Come Back

Look at what the world celebrates. Hollywood preaches a Genesis 6 return every weekend. Marvel has made tens of billions telling audiences that gods walk among us. Thor, Loki, Doctor Strange, the Eternals—an alien race guiding human evolution. Captain America receives a serum and becomes superhuman. Tony Stark builds a suit and becomes a god. Bruce Banner is irradiated and becomes something else. Every superhero story carries the same myth: humans breaking the ceiling of their humanity to become more.

Science fiction amplifies the message. Transcendence, Lucy, Lawnmower Man, Limitless, Her, The Matrix—all rehearse the same story of consciousness uploaded, brains unlocked, humanity transcended. This is not accident. It is cultural rehearsal.

Silicon Valley pushes the same vision under the banner of transhumanism—the deliberate use of technology to move humanity beyond the human. One of its most influential voices, who works at Google, wrote The Singularity Is Near, predicting the moment when humans and machines become one and digital immortality arrives in this generation. Historian Yuval Noah Harari’s bestseller Homo Deus argues that the next stage of evolution is for humanity to become gods. Billion-dollar laboratories funded by figures such as Jeff Bezos and major tech companies pursue not merely longer life but the defeat of death itself through technology.

New Age spirituality joins the chorus. Walk into any bookstore’s New Age section and you will find promises that you are your own god and need only the right knowledge, ritual, or upgrade to awaken your divinity. Wicca, theosophy, ascended masters—all echo the same claim: humanity is evolving into divinity.

The ancient offer has never gone away. In Genesis 3:5 the serpent told Eve, “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” That whisper has reached every century and every culture that seeks a way to become more than God made us to be. We live in the loudest generation yet for that lie.

The Death Problem Cannot Be Engineered Away

Why is the world so obsessed with becoming more than human? It is not ultimately about power, intelligence, or strength. It is about overcoming death. The world has rejected the only Man who has ever defeated death, so it must now try to defeat death by itself.

Scripture is clear. In 1 Corinthians 15 Paul declares, “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” This is not poetry; it is a victory announcement. Jesus walked out of the tomb on the third day in a body that could be touched and that could eat. “But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep” (1 Corinthians 15:20). Every Christian’s answer to death is the same: my Savior has defeated death, and I am next.

Because culture has rejected that solution, technology now promises what only Christ has already accomplished. The first transhumanist project was not in Silicon Valley. It was at Babel in Genesis 11. After the flood, people said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves.” They sought to reach godhood through their own engineering. God scattered them because nothing they planned would be impossible for them.

Today’s Babel is built of code, cells, and silicon. If a person does not believe Jesus walked out of the tomb, only one path remains: save yourself. Outsmart cancer. Outrun dementia. Upload the mind. Edit the children’s genes so they live longer. The most expensive science project in human history is being run to solve the problem Jesus solved two thousand years ago in a garden tomb.

Where the Science Actually Is

This is not science fiction. In 1953 the structure of DNA—the double helix—was discovered. In 2003 the Human Genome Project finished mapping the three billion letters of human DNA. In 2012 CRISPR-Cas9 was discovered—molecular scissors that cut DNA at precise locations and rewrite it. Its discoverers received the Nobel Prize in 2020.

In 2018 the line many never wanted crossed was crossed when CRISPR was used on human embryos and Lulu and Nana were born with heritable gene edits. The technical capability did not disappear. In December 2023 the FDA approved the first CRISPR-based therapy, curing sickle cell disease by editing a patient’s own blood cells. A baby known as Baby KJ has already received a custom CRISPR therapy for a specific mutation. Dozens more CRISPR therapies are in clinical trials for cancer, heart disease, and blindness. The FDA has proposed pathways to make them faster and cheaper.

Neuralink’s first patient received an implant in January 2024 and plays chess by thought alone. By early 2026 more than twenty people have these implants, with mass production planned.

Almost everything listed so far can be good. Healing the sick, restoring movement, curing disease—these reflect the heart of Jesus, who opened blind eyes and made the lame walk. We rightly celebrate healing. Yet the same tools that heal can also enhance. The same scissors that correct a sickle-cell mutation can edit a healthy embryo’s eye color or intelligence. The same chip that lets a paralyzed person use a computer could one day plug a healthy brain directly into the internet. The line between healing and upgrading is a moral line. The tools themselves do not care which side they serve.

For the first time in history we can rewrite ourselves. The question is no longer whether we will. The question is who will offer it and what they will ask in return.

The Coming Crisis and the Counterfeit Offer

Looking at culture and at events in the Middle East, certain things are clear from Scripture. Jesus is coming. Dark days are coming. There will be a mark of the beast. A beast is coming. A form of world religion and economic control will arise so that people cannot buy or sell without the mark, and those who refuse will be persecuted.

COVID showed how quickly the world can surrender liberties in a crisis. That response was a rehearsal. Almost every end-time prophecy rides on crisis—lying wonders, strong delusion, hearts failing for fear. The crisis could be pandemic, financial collapse, war, ecological catastrophe, or even an apparent alien threat—real or staged. Free people do not easily surrender freedom, but panic changes that. History shows dictators rise on the back of crisis.

The counterfeit savior will not look like a beast at first. He will look like the solution. Second Corinthians 11:14 warns that Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. This figure will possess charisma, vision, and answers. He will broker peace, calm markets, unite nations. Revelation 13 records the world’s response: “Who is like the beast? Who can wage war against it?” That language once belonged to Israel’s worship of God at the Red Sea. The world will give to the beast what belongs only to God.

Here the Genesis 6 pattern can return. In Noah’s day fallen beings crossed with humanity, brought forbidden knowledge, and corrupted the earth so deeply that flood was the only response. The enemy no longer needs to send watchers. He has a more elegant tool: technology.

Imagine the offer framed by crisis: Take this enhancement. Your immune system will be upgraded. Your cognition will improve. Your lifespan will extend. You will not get sick, grow old, or die. You will be like gods. The same lie whispered in Genesis 3:5.

Revelation 13:16-17 says he causes all to receive a mark on the right hand or forehead so that no one can buy or sell without it. For two thousand years believers have wondered what the mark would be. What if it is not merely a marker but a modification—something that changes a person at a deeper level? What if the moment it is received, something shifts so that the person is no longer fully human?

That would explain the severity of Revelation 14:9-11. Those who take the mark are immediately and eternally lost—no grace, no return. Murder can be forgiven. Adultery can be forgiven. Blasphemy against the Father and the Son can be forgiven. This cannot. Author Timothy Alberino argues in Birthright that the reason is simple: the moment the mark is taken, the person is no longer fully human. Jesus became a man—not an angel, not a hybrid—to die for the children of Adam. Hebrews 2:14 states, “Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity.” The cross was paid for real flesh-and-blood descendants of Adam. If people edit themselves out of that lineage—fusing with technology, becoming a new kind of being—they step outside the species Jesus came to save. The Nephilim were not merely bad people; they were not fully human and therefore not redeemable. The flood came because the human bloodline through which Messiah would come was being corrupted.

This is the most dangerous offer a generation will hear. It will not primarily demand open denial of Jesus. It will say: Take the upgrade. Take the medicine. Take the next step. Everyone is doing it. Do it for health, for longer life, for progress. That is how the hook is set.

Much of this remains speculation. Yet in light of where technology is moving, discernment is required.

Technology Is Not the Enemy

Technology itself is not the devil. It is a tool—like fire, the wheel, the printing press, or a hammer. A hammer can build a house or kill a man. The morality lies in the hand that holds it.

Christians have always used technology to spread the gospel. The printing press put Bibles into ordinary hands. Missionaries used radio. Pastors used cassette tapes. The platform carrying this message is technology. Glasses correct vision. Pacemakers regulate hearts. Laser surgery restores sight. These are not problems.

The question is not whether we use technology. We all do. The question is whether technology uses and controls us. The sharper distinction that is coming is this: Does this technology heal within the human design God established, or does it upgrade beyond that design? Glasses restore vision; a neural lace that eliminates the need for sleep or downloads languages directly into the brain modifies humanity itself. Antibiotics fight infection; editing an embryo for eye color, IQ, or athletic potential crosses a different line. A pacemaker keeps a heart beating; a microchip that unlocks access, ability, or a form of godhood is something else entirely.

The line will not always be clear at first. That is why believers must practice discernment, ask God for wisdom, stay close to Jesus and to other believers, and continually ask: Is this restoring what God made me to be, or is it changing what God made me to be?

What You Cannot Fix—and What Jesus Already Did

All of this comes down to one fixed reality. Hebrews 9:27 declares, “People are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment.” Every billionaire pouring fortune into longevity science will die. Every transhumanist prophet will die. Every engineer in Silicon Valley will die. It is appointed. It is not a glitch that gene editing or consciousness uploading can erase. After death comes judgment. No technology can cancel that appointment.

You cannot engineer your way out of dying. You can only be saved by the One who already died for you and walked out of the grave. He is the firstfruits of a new body—not edited, but resurrected. He gives the Holy Spirit as a deposit guaranteeing the restoration of all creation. He offers new life now and new bodies for eternity.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).

The contrast is stark. The world will sell eternal life through an upgrade. Jesus offers eternal life through repentance. The world says become more than human. Jesus says come and let Me save you as a human.

If your hope is in Christ, the counterfeit hope loses its power. If your identity is in Jesus, no upgrade can claim your allegiance. If you already know you are loved by the God who became a man for you, no offer to become more than human will ever look appealing. Those who refuse the mark will not be the ones who merely memorized the right verses. They will be those who already love Jesus so deeply that no other offer can compete.

If you have been drawn into the lie that you need to become more than God made you to be, repent. God made you on purpose. You are not a beta version waiting for an upgrade. You are an image-bearer of the living God.
