Imagine working for a global enterprise, with outlets in every country of the world, operating hospitals, homeless shelters, working with marriages, looking after people from birth until death, and working in the area of behavioral alteration! This is how one man describes what he does, as a pastor. This is the church. How differently would we live our lives and make the decisions that we make if we understood what God has given us and the freedoms that we are allowed in the blessing of America? When Bill Bright received a powerful revelation from the Lord, it greatly impacted how he saw the world and every culture within it. In each and every culture, there are 7 spheres of culture. These are so significant we can call them mountains of culture: family, the church, arts & entertainment, media, business, government, and education. Whoever is in leadership of these respective areas can dictate the direction that an entire nation can go. In Matthew 28:19-20 Jesus gives us the call to,” Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” We are called to make disciples in the 7 different mountains of culture, regardless of where we are.
The Bible reveals the journey of one king over Israel, Josiah. The book of 2
nd Kings walks us through his leadership over an entire nation and how he was awakened to the reality of his nation, what God’s perspective was of that reality, and ultimately how he responded. As an American, one may distance themselves from that story. After all, that story was about a king. In America, there is a President. We may come across our own awakening moment when we realize who the true kings are of America. Be empowered as you hear the mighty ability and responsibility that are to be carried out in these present and trying moments, and so much more.
