LISTEN NOW! (Or WATCH FULL PROGRAM!) [Part 2 of 2] This is such an exciting moment as the President continues his first international trip, he departs Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and arrives in Israel. President Trump is the first President to visit Israel during his first international trip. As the President was making his own preparations for this historic visit, Israel was making their preparations of their own to receive President Trump with open arms.
The red carpet was literally rolled out once again for the arrival of the President as crowds of people, political, governmental, and military leaders waited as Air Force One taxied along the runway of Ben Gurion Airport in Tel-Aviv, Israel. This is the first time a President has made a trip to Israel on their first International trip. We have literally watched history in the making. As the red carpet was rolled out in front of the podium where speakers such as President of Israel, President Rivlin, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would eventually speak, it was also rolled out directly beneath the steps of Air Force One. President Rivlin was joined by his wife, Nechama. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, his wife Sarah, Israel’s Ambassador to the United States, Ron Dermer, and America’s Ambassador to Israel, David Friedman and his wife Tammy also eagerly waited for the President along the red carpet.
As significant of an event it is for the President to visit Israel on his first international trip, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife Sarah were the first international visitors to the White House during the Trump Administration. It is such a refreshing sight to see the warm, welcoming embrace between the Prime Minister, the President and Sarah Netanyahu, as they stand together on the tarmac. As the President shakes hands with the Prime Minister, he greets him, “Hello my good friend”, and warmly greets Sarah Netanyahu with a kiss on each cheek. The Prime Minister is full of smiles as he returns the joy of welcoming the President; “Welcome our good friend”. As each of those who waited eagerly on the tarmac for the President to arrive, now stand shoulder to shoulder, the Israeli National Anthem plays as well as the American National Anthem.
The President of the State of Israel, President Reuven Rivlin, shared such encouraging and hopeful words and made his opening statements. “Your visit is a symbol of the unbreakable bond between Israel and America. You are the President of Israel’s greatest and most important ally. You are a true friend of Israel and of the Jewish people.” The President shares the urgency and importance of this strong bond as he continues with these words. “Mr. President, the world needs a strong United States. The Middle East needs a strong United States. Israel needs a strong United States. And may I say, the United States needs a strong Israel.”
President Rivlin continues to address how Israel and the Israeli people are responding to President Trump’s arrival. “The people of Israel are excited about your arrival and have great expectations from this visit.” President Trump’s arrival comes at a historic moment for the people of Israel, as President Rivlin shares. “We are honored to have you here, with us, as we mark 50 years of Jerusalem Day, ‘Yom Yerushalayim’ as we say it in Hebrew. It makes us very happy to know that Israel’s most important ally recognizes the significance of Jerusalem to the Jewish people all around the world.”
As President Rivlin concluded his welcoming remarks, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also shared his welcoming remarks as well. As he opened with the warmest regards to the President’s arrival, Prime Minister Netanyahu commented on this historic reality that was taking place. “Your visit here, Mr. President, is truly historic. Never before has the first foreign trip of a President of the United States included a visit to Israel. Thank you, Mr. President. Thank you for this powerful expression of your friendship to Israel.” He continued to speak of the President’s bold words that were shared in his visit to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
“Yesterday in Saudi Arabia, you delivered a forceful speech of clarity and conviction. You called on all nations to drive out terrorists and extremists. You called for the forces of civilization to confront the forces of barbarism.”Israel understands this paradigm all too well as this has been their reality for decades. The Prime Minister continues. “For 69 years, Israel has been doing precisely that. We’ve manned the front lines of civilizations, we’ve fought terrorism, and we’ve built a modern, vibrant, democratic, Jewish State.” Israel understands that there are not only Jews in Israel, but also Christians and Muslims. Israel is the freest state anyone could possibly imagine in all of the Middle East. Amidst rising persecution in the region, the Prime Minister continues to address how freedom and democracy is a priority. “We’re proud to have a growing and thriving Christian community, and we guarantee the rights of all.”
As Israel has extended and demonstrated the warmest welcome to President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, President Trump also many kinds words to share. “I am deeply grateful for your invitation and very, very honored to be with you. On my first trip, overseas as President I have come to this sacred and ancient land to reaffirm the unbreakable bond between the United States and the state of Israel.” As the President speaks of Israel’s culture, he also addresses his commitment to a new future for Israel, free from the evils that have previously taken place. “In this land so rich in history, Israel has built one of the world’s great civilizations, a strong resilient, determined and prosperous nation, it is also a nation forged in the commitment that we will never allow the horrors and atrocities of the last century to be repeated.” The President continues his point; “Now we must work together to build a future where the nations of the region are at peace and all of our children can grow and grow up strong and grow up free from terrorism and violence.
As the President makes his closing statements, he ends with these warm words; “Mr. President, Mr. Prime Minister, I look forward to working closely with both of you during my stay. We love Israel. We respect Israel. And I send your people the warmest greetings from your friend and ally, all of the people in the United States of America. We are with you. Thank you and God bless you.” This is so exciting. If you have been praying for the peace of Jerusalem, for the peace of Israel, this is a direct answer to your prayers.
