Home » GREATEST Miracle Ever!!! — When Blessings Chase the Righteous | Who is this that even Chickens Obey? Jonathan Shuttleworth

🔹 Five Things We Will Learn

  1. How God still provides miraculously for those who trust Him.
  2. Why righteousness invites blessing instead of trouble.
  3. How faith and honesty unlock divine provision.
  4. The difference between praying from fear and standing in trust.
  5. How obedience and integrity sustain supernatural supply.

🕊️ When Blessings Chase the Righteous

“Grandma, what’s the greatest miracle God ever did for you and Grandpa in the fifty years you two were preaching?”

She smiled and said, “Well, this might sound like a small miracle to some people, but it was big for us at the time.”

They were living in West Virginia, attending Bible college, preaching on the streets, and trusting God for everything. One morning, they woke up with no food for breakfast and no income. “So I got ready to pray,” Grandma said.

Before she could even say one word, she remembered the promise:
“Trouble chases sinners, but blessings pursue the righteous.” — Proverbs 13:21

Then the miracle began.

🐔 The Miracle of the Marching Chickens

“Before I could even start praying,” she said, “I looked out and saw chickens marching down the hill. Twenty-one of them—walking in a perfect line straight toward our house. Normally chickens don’t wander; they’re kept in pens. But these came down the hill, turned, and went right into our shed.”

Curious, she followed them. “All twenty-one laid an egg! I gathered every egg into a basket, and those chickens turned around, walked back up the hill—about a quarter mile—to the pen they came from.”

Being honest, Grandma went up to the neighbor’s house. “Your chickens got loose and laid eggs on our property,” she said. “I wanted to know if you’d like them.”

The woman laughed, “Those can’t be ours. My husband hates those chickens. They’ve never laid a single egg.”

When Grandma insisted, the lady replied, “If they ain’t on your property, you can keep them.”

And from that day forward, whenever my grandparents began to run low on eggs, those same chickens would march down the hill, lay their eggs in the shed, and return home again. No feeding, no cleanup, no effort—just the blessing of God on display.

🌿 The Lesson Behind the Miracle

Sometimes God’s greatest miracles aren’t dramatic or public. They show up quietly—like twenty-one chickens carrying breakfast from heaven.

Psalm 23 says, “You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.”
When God marks you with His favor, blessings don’t need your permission—they find you.

Grandma didn’t cry out in fear or desperation. She stood in faith. Before she could even ask, God had already sent provision walking down the hill.

That’s what Jesus meant when He said not to worry about what we’ll eat or wear. The same God who multiplied loaves and fish is still multiplying today—for those who trust Him.

✝️ Faith That Walks in Honesty and Obedience

Her honesty mattered as much as her faith. She could have kept quiet about the eggs—but her integrity kept the blessing pure. Miracles flourish where hearts remain upright before God.

Faith invites miracles; obedience sustains them.

🌤️ When Blessings Follow You

Grandma ended her story with a line that has stayed with me ever since:

“If all you’ve noticed is struggle, remember this—when God anoints your head with oil, trouble can’t find its way to you. The blessing of God will come without your permission.”

If you’re in a season of waiting or lack, hold steady. You may not see chickens coming down your hill, but the same faithful God still commands blessings to find you wherever you are.

When you walk in righteousness, you don’t chase blessings—blessings chase you.
