Five Things We Will Learn
- Rick Joyner believes a great move of God, revival, and awakening is upon us.
- He believes the church has less than two years to prepare.
- He says rigid, brittle, old structures will not be able to contain the new wine.
- He believes small groups and relational church life will become the net that holds the coming harvest.
- He warns that God anoints people, not programs, strategies, or organizations.
A Watchman’s Warning to the Church
Rick Joyner is sounding an urgent call to the body of Christ. In this message, he says the Lord has been speaking to him about ramping up MorningStar’s original calling to be a resource center for the church. That resource center is meant to provide timely prophetic words, teachings, and preparation for the people of God in the times ahead.
Rick says the main thing he has been hearing from the Lord is that revival, a movement, a move of God, and another great awakening is upon us. He believes it may take many forms, but the message is clear: something significant is coming, and the church is not ready.
He says he believes we have less than two years to get ready.
The Coming Move Will Be Like a Tsunami
Rick describes what is coming as a tsunami. He says the move of God he has seen since 1987 will come with such force that it will wash away those who are not on the high ground.
He specifically warns that many organizations and structures that are too brittle, too rigid, and too much like old wineskins will not be able to hold the new wine that is coming. They will burst.
This does not mean the coming move will be bad. Rick says it will be exciting and that it will be one of the greatest times ever to walk with the Lord. But it will also be one of the hardest times for those who are more committed to protecting their structures and organizations than receiving the move of God.
Dry Wood Will Ignite Quickly
Rick says the last few years have been some of the driest spiritual times of his lifetime. Yet, he sees encouragement in that.
Dry wood ignites faster.
He believes the dryness many have experienced is actually setting the stage for great revival fires. He says some places are already experiencing revival, but what is coming will be far greater. It will be the real thing, marked by the manifest presence of the Lord.
Rick makes a distinction between the Lord being with us and the Lord manifesting His presence. When He manifests, everything changes.
The Waters Have Been Receding
Rick compares the current condition of Christianity to the waters receding before a tsunami. When the ocean pulls back before a tsunami, it is a warning to get to high ground.
He says Christianity has appeared to be receding for a long time. Scandals, decline, institutional failures, and shrinking numbers have made it look as though the church is losing ground. But Rick believes this is part of the Lord pruning and cleaning His church.
He also points to Matthew 24, where Jesus says that because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold. Rick emphasizes that Jesus is speaking about His people, not the heathen, because only God’s people have that love for Him.
The Coming Revival Will Begin Suddenly
Rick believes the move of God will break suddenly. He says it may become news everywhere, as if it is happening all at once. Yet even that will only be the beginning.
He compares it to labor contractions. Both Jesus and Paul described end-time events as coming like birth pains. At first, the contractions get attention, but then they grow stronger and more frequent as the birth gets closer.
Rick believes we have been experiencing this pattern for hundreds of years in both the true body of Christ and the false church. He also references the false church seen in Revelation.
The Church Must Learn How to Handle Revival
Rick says he is focusing much of his current writing, especially in “The Word for the Week,” on how to handle revival.
He has studied revival for more than half a century. He says only the Lord can light the fire of revival. Men cannot start revival. But once the Lord lights the fire, His priests are responsible to keep the fire burning.
He compares this to the fire on the altar. God sent the fire, but the priests had to keep wood on it.
Rick says all believers are priests in the New Testament, which means we all have a part in keeping the fire burning once the Lord starts it. He says we need to be storing up firewood now.
Find Your Place in the Body
One of Rick’s clearest warnings is that believers must find their place in the body of Christ.
He says this has been one of the most important things the Lord has shown him for many years. To be ready for what is coming, believers must be rightly connected.
Rick believes that, ultimately, those who are not in small groups now will be. He believes the main identity of the body of Christ will increasingly be found in small groups rather than large institutions.
He says Christianity was never meant to be primarily an organization or institution. It was meant to be a family.
Small Groups Will Hold the Harvest
Rick says small groups will become the net that holds the coming harvest.
He refers to what he saw in 1987: tiny home groups exploding in growth, adding a thousand people a week. At the same time, he saw large churches unable to add more than a few people a week.
When he asked the Lord why, he says the Lord told him it was because they had spent their time building programs instead of building people.
Rick says the net will be people.
The Lord anoints people, not strategies, organizations, or programs. Those who have spent time building people will be able to expand and hold the catch.
That is why we believe the Lord has led us to walk this out and establish Vine Fellowship Network—for the very coming move of God and end-time harvest Rick Joyner is speaking about, the very thing the Lord has shown him.

Big Meetings Have a Place, But They Cannot Be Everything
Rick is not saying large meetings are unnecessary. He says the early church had larger gatherings where believers came together to hear the apostles’ teaching. But they also met from house to house.
He says we need both.
The problem comes when the big meeting tries to become everything. Rick says it can only be a small part of what the church is called to be. The main things the church is called to be can only happen in smaller relational settings, where people can know one another, speak, share, pray, and grow together.
Hidden Leaders Are About to Emerge
Rick says there are extraordinary leaders in the body of Christ who do not even know they are leaders yet.
Some have never taught, preached, or spoken publicly. Some have been sitting quietly in the back. But in the right setting, where they are able to speak and function, they will become some of the most anointed teachers and ministers in the body of Christ.
Rick believes the coming move of God will reveal many people who have been hidden but prepared by God.
A Call to Prepare Now
Rick’s message is urgent but hopeful.
A great harvest is coming. A great awakening is coming. A move of God is coming. But the church must prepare.
Rigid structures will not be able to hold it. Programs alone will not sustain it. Institutions that are more committed to self-preservation than the move of God will be shaken.
But those who find their place in the body, build people, gather relationally, and prepare for the harvest will be ready.
The coming move of God will require flexible wineskins, strong relationships, spiritual maturity, and believers who know how to carry the presence of the Lord together.
