It was a profound moment in time when Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. responded to the injustices that were taking place in America in the 1960s. More than 50 years later, the same injustices and realities of pain are still taking place. As the daughter of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Bernice King has expressed her perspective of carrying out her father’s message in today’s generation. “I have a profound responsibility to carry the next phase of that….I have been called to represent a standard of excellence and integrity…” The call of response upon our generation, as a people, as the church, is no different than it was when Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. marched. If there is injustice happening anywhere, to any one individual, we, as the church need to respond; wrap our arms around that situation, and intercede with repentance; especially when acts of injustice have been done in the name of Christ. Bishop T.D. Jakes shares a profound perspective in regards to the racial tensions that are increasing in America, as “God’s judgment on a silent church”. This is the moment when the church can respond mightily in love and humility to a broken reality, at the foot of the Cross. T.D. Jake Interview: Race Tensions-“God’s Judgement on a Silent Church” 

 In a CBN interview with Bishop T.D. Jakes, the conversation about the racial tensions in America and how the church is supposed to respond continues on. God has called us to be family. What the church is walking out is dysfunctional family. When we look at the imagery of the Throne of God described in the book of Revelation 7:9, “After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb.”If the Bible describes EVERY nation, tribe, people, and language, then that is exactly what it means. We are called to love everyone, especially those who are not like us because that is who God calls us to love, everyone. If the church does not respond and chooses to ignore the realities of injustices that have taken place in the land, then people are going to have a conversation that the church is supposed to have. “Until we do, the people in the street are taking up the conversation. And I think that they are God’s judgment on a silent church.” We are called to love, every nation, and every individual within those nations.
