The Power of Momentum: ask the Baltimore Ravens
John, Pat and Chris discuss Super Bowl XLVII and how the Ravens had the momentum until the power outage that knocked power out for 34 minutes.  When the power was restored the momentum switched and the San Francisco 49ers came from behind to score 17 unanswered points in a little over 4 minutes.  The Baltimore Ravens were able to hang on and squeeze out a narrow victory of 34-31.  They continued to discuss how important momentum is when one begins to abide.  It is often the stop and go that makes it difficult to continue.  However, they continue to discuss by making a 6 week commitment to abide how each day builds off the previous and a momentum of revelation and hearing the voice of God builds and encourages us to continue to abide.
Ex-Navy Seal Sniper murdered and PTSD
John, Pat, and Chris, discuss how Ex-Navy Seal Sniper Chris Kyle and his friend Chad Littlefield were murdered at a gun range.  Chris Kyle after serving four tours in Iraq helped many returning veterans and helped them with their recovery of Post Traumatic Stressed Disorder.  Allegedly the man who shot and killed Chris and his friend was taken by Chris to the range.  The shooter is alleged to be a former marine battling PTSD.  John, Pat, and Chris share their condolences to Chris and Chad’s family on their loss.  They continue to discuss a new Department of Veteran Affairs study shows that the toll of suicide on veterans is even higher than previously suspected.  This new report says according the NY Daily News a U.S. military veteran commits suicide every 65 minutes.  That’s 22 service members every day.  They continue to discuss how believers and Americans alike should honor our veterans, help them find employment and continue to pray for them and their families.

Israel, Iran, and the confirmation hearing for Chuck Hagel for Secretary of Defense
John, Pat, and Chris discuss how Iran says Israel will regret Syria air strike.  Israel hints to admission of the strike.  They continue to discuss how Israel will not allow Syria’s weapons to fall into the hands of their enemies. They continue to discuss Senate confirmation hearings for former Senator Chuck Hagel.  Chuck Hagel’s alleged comments about how “Jewish lobby” intimidates many members of Congress were not well received and have been questioned by many if the Secretary of Defense should have this view of America’s closest ally in the Middle East.
What was started in Spirit Now being done in the flesh, really?
Pat, John, and Chris from share from Galatians 3:2-5 and discuss what Paul told the Galatians.  “Did you receive the spirit by observing the law, or by believing what you heard? Are you so foolish?  After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort?”  They continue to discuss the trap we can fall into if we forget that it is the Lord who teaches us and brought us to the place we are today.  The minute we take confidence in what we think we can do than we try to do in our own flesh what only God can do.  This requires humility and total dependency on God and not pride which causes us to think that we have to do everything as if we could.
Do not Worry, Be about the One Thing
John, Pat, and Chris share from Matthew 6:25-34.  We are instructed in God’s word not to worry about our life. They continue to discuss how nothing changes for the good by worrying.  In fact worry is a persistent mental uneasiness, agitation, anxiousness.  Worry often leads to lack of sleep, peace and appetite.  Jesus said look at the birds of the air, they do not sow, or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly father feeds them.  Are you not much more valuable than they?  We have extreme value to God.  He cares for us deeply and encourages us instead of spending useless time worrying about a situation; seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.  We are encouraged in God’s word to seek him and just like Mary, Martha’s sister who sat at the feet of Jesus so should we sit at his feet.  Jesus said this is the “one thing” we should be concerned about.  In his presence and in his word God will direct us on what we need to do and where we should go.
