DESPERATE FOR THE TRUTH!
Our world is in a chaotic place while people are desperately crying out for truth! Dr. Jordan Peterson author of 12 Rules for Life, An Antidote to Chaos, is answering people’s cry for truth from a secular perspective. His book is the best seller in three of the wealthiest countries: America, Canada, and the United Kingdom. He has spoken in countries all over the world, and millions are watching his videos on YouTube! It seems that those that supposedly have it all are missing something, and they are searching desperately for the truth, but not always in the right places. What the world needs is the only truth, who is Jesus Christ!
We discuss Dr. Peterson’s 12 Rules for Life which are things that most of us should be taught as we grow up at home and in school, but many are not being taught.
Rule 1: Stand up straight with your shoulders back
Rule 2: Treat yourself like someone you are responsible for helping
Rule 3: Make friends with people who want the best for you
Rule 4: Compare yourself to who you were yesterday, not who someone else is today
Rule 5: Do not let your children do anything that makes you dislike them
Rule 6: Set your house in perfect order before you criticize the world
Rule 7: Pursue what is meaningful (Not what is expedient)
Rule 8: Tell the truth, or at least don’t lie
Rule 9: Assume that the person you are listening to might know something you don’t
Rule 10: Be precise in your speech
Rule 11: Do not bother children when they are skateboarding
Rule 12: Pet a cat when you encounter one on the street
People are gathering around the world to hear truth even to the point of crying as they hear it! Dr. Peterson spoke at Liberty University, and he was asked to speak what he knows as true. We must remember that as the truth is declared, all over the world, people are trying to quiet and snuff out the truth. We see a demonstration of this in a video clip during the discussion with the student body at Liberty U. You must watch to see how people at a university try everything to stop Dr. Peterson’s voice from being heard.
In the middle while talking about this with the panel at Liberty U, a man named David runs up to the stage crying out for help saying that he needs God and wants to know Him better. As you hear him cry out, if you are a believer, your heart should long to answer his cry for help because the Jesus in you wants to meet his need! We have the answer he was looking for, and that answer is the truth of Jesus that He died for David so that he might be saved! Because Dr. Peterson does not believe in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus, he was unable to say or do anything to help this lost man seeking the truth. Like David, people are desperate for the truth. They have so much information at their fingertips, but they don’t know the truth. Knowledge is not truth! Jesus is the only way to God and the only way to have the truth.
“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6
The cares of this life and information that people are overwhelmed with are choking out the truth that is available to them. Jesus spoke of that in a parable saying that the cares and worries of life choke out the truth. The only way truth works and stays with you is if you fall to the ground like a grain of wheat and be put in the dirt and die, to produce a harvest!
“Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.” John 12:24
When we make Jesus the Lord of our life, we must become something other than ourselves. We must die so that Jesus can be the One who lives in us and through us.
“Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.” Matthew 16:24
It is a process of learning to be a disciple of Jesus. We must humble ourselves before God, fall to the ground, die to ourselves and then we will grow in the things of God to produce a harvest. Humility can be defined as total dependency on God and respect for other people. We fall to the ground, pick up our cross and just follow God! If you don’t know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you can visit Meet My Father and read our stories of how we came to know Jesus and make the same decision today to receive the truth of Jesus Christ! God has designed us to be hungry for the truth! If you want to hear the full message on how to Fall, Die and Grow in Jesus, you can request that HERE and we will make that available to you. Are you desperate for truth? What do you think about this? We want to hear from, write to us at [email protected]. Greg and John shared in this segment.
