It is about all of us rebuilding the wall, not just watching someone else do it. Nehemiah cast vision, and the people said, “Let us get started.” That is the moment everything shifts. You either get on the field as a player, or you fool yourself into thinking that watching counts as building.
Five Things We Will Learn
- Why you cannot build while you are still stuck in unbroken mourning.
- How clear vision gives people a chance to run with what God is doing.
- Why saying “we will rebuild” must be followed by action.
- How Sanballat answers vision with ridicule right away.
- What it means to be all in when God puts His hand on a work.
Get on the Field
Do not fool yourself by thinking that by watching it, you were doing it. The church needs to wake up. If somebody is casting vision with the Lord before you, do not be a typical spectator. Get started building. It will cost you everything. Hearing and obeying go together. Be all in.
Nehemiah had already come through brokenness. You cannot build well while you are still only weeping. Mourning has a purpose, but at some point God puts His hand on you, favor comes, and you cast vision. Then the people must respond.

Speak the Same Vision
Habakkuk 2:2-3 calls us to make the vision plain. Nehemiah did that. The people answered, we will do it, we will rebuild the walls. Unity around the same vision is not hype. It is how living stones actually rise into a wall.
At once Sanballat came to frustrate the plans of God. That is not a maybe. Once the vision is revealed, ridicule and mocking follow. No matter what the enemy throws at you, you must know the vision God has called you to and stand.
Do Not Let Them Stop You
Do not let the enemy convince you that you are doing something when you really are not. And do not let ridicule convince you to sit back down once you have started. God put His hand on Nehemiah. Favor came. Vision was cast. The people said yes. Now stay on the field.
Lord, make us players, not spectators. Give us one vision, one heart, and the courage to build when Sanballat starts talking.
