Power Grid Infiltrated by Terrorist? Total Black Out? Tedd Koppel – “Lights Out: A Cyberattack, A Nation Unprepared, Surviving the Aftermath"

LISTEN NOW! There have been many prophetic words that have been released warning of the days that we are facing today. From the rising attacks of terrorism, to nuclear war, the effects are the same when looking at the external threats. What about an attack that could possibly cripple the American economy without a shot being fired, or without a missile being launched? What about an internal power grid failure? In his new book, Lights Out: A Cyberattack, A Nation Unprepared, Surviving the Aftermath, Ted Koppel talks about the imminent threats coming to America.

There have been countless natural disasters that have been experienced throughout all areas of America. In a CBS report, the critical question is asked. “But, what happens if the power goes out in a number of states; affecting millions of people for weeks; even months?” During Koppel’s own research that led to the writing of his new book, he commented to CBS, “It is frightening enough that my wife and I were going to buy enough freeze dried food for our kids and their kids.” The imagery that Koppel’s book reveals is not a good one. Most are not aware of the infrastructure of America’s power grid. There are only three individual grids that power the entire United States. “If a hacker decides to take down an entire grid, a huge portion of the country, along with parts of Canada could go down with it. The primary reason, like so much else these days, the grid relies heavily on the internet.”

When Koppel was made aware of the impending threat, it caused him to contact every agency he could consider, Red Cross, FEMA, etc. in order to get some type of direction as to the plan of the best preparation. When he sat down with Secretary of Homeland Security, Jeh Johnson, his response wasn’t exactly encouraging. “I kept asking, ‘what’s the plan’. Why wait until disaster strikes. Do you have a plan?’ And he just sort of pointed up at a shelf with white binders and he said, ‘Look I’m sure there is something up there somewhere.’”

Senator Harry Reid also sounded the alarm in Congress voicing the concern of a “Cyber Pearl Harbor”. One would think when our elected officials use vocabulary such as this, there would be a media frenzy asking details. What continues to raise concern is the lack of any significant response from media when these statements were made. When Koppel spoke with the Secretary of State for the state of New York, Koppel was advised that 20-25 million Meals Ready to Eat (MREs) were on hand in preparation. With the population of just New York City alone comprising of more than 8 million people, that would be food for three days if each person had one MRE A DAY. What is supposed to happen after three days? “This is not a question of ‘if’. This is a question of ‘when’. Koppel not only continues to dialogue about how this threat can actually happen, but the potential timelines and the possible aftermath of effects that would inevitably occur because of it.

This is just another word that confirms the prophetic words that the Lord has been revealing and making known to a people for the hope of a nation turning back to God. Additional prophetic dreams and visions are shared that confirm, more and more what is on our horizon lest we turn back to God. What is vital to remember is that all of these happenings have a purpose. As was revealed in one encounter, “Don’t Panic. This is what God has made happen in order to bring in the harvest. You do have your 90 days don’t you?” These are the times that we can heed these warnings, respond accordingly, and not suffer the consequences of ignoring these words. -“Imagine the toll of these attacks: massive power blackouts, no telephone, no internet capability; and that’s on your cell phones, or whatever phones exist; overwhelmed first responders; an infrastructure system reduced to chaos.”

-“The President has twice warned about a cyber attack on the power grid in his State of the Union Address. Nothing in the press the next morning.”

-“It will be infinitely more damaging, potentially, than Pearl Harbor was.”

–“If one of the electric grids was compromised, there would be no light, no cooling, no heating, no flow of water, no functioning toilets. In the cities 1000’s of people would be stuck in elevators.”

-“20-25 million MREs, Meals Ready to Eat, for the State of New York. The City of New York, you’re talking about 8 million people…. Lets assume that the folks upstate can take care of themselves. 8 million people. 25 million meals. That’s 3 meals per person. Let’s say they limit themselves to one meal a day. 3 days. What happens after that? No plan.”

-“There is no plan”

-“It is inevitable that there is going to be a cyber attack against our infrastructure.”

-“Its not a question of if; it’s a question of when”

-“We only have 3 cyber grids in the United States: The Eastern-Interconnect, Texas has its own, then there’s the West Coast.”

-“The horrifying possibility is two-fold: the internet was never designed to be defended… and its almost impossible to completely defend something that was never designed to be defended.”

-“There are thousands of hacking incidents every day.”

-“The question we have to ask ourselves as patriotic America citizens, are we more worried about having our privacy compromised by our own intelligence agencies, or by the intelligence agencies of the Chinese, and the Russians, and the Iranians?”
