Did you know that God wants you to be successful? With this in mind, it is important to remember that success doesn’t simply fall out of the sky. It takes hard work and determination to reach the success that you desire in your life. As the founder of the largest e-commerce company in China, Alibaba, Jack Ma shares some insightful wisdom that he has learned on his journey of success.
As Ma speaks to an attentive audience, he points out how we must forecast processes taking much longer than we anticipate. “If you have a great idea, prepare for ten years. You’re lucky if you win in one year.” He continues to explain the expectations we need to have if we have placed a timeline on our goals. “If you think I will win this in 3 years, prepare for five years.” He also shares personal stories that caused him to nearly go broke because he did not understand this wisdom at the time. “When you know what you’re willing to give up, then you know you will get something.”
This is such a pinnacle concept in business. It is when you give to others that you begin to receive. You must be willing to give up momentary desires to receive long-term rewards. It’s not what you’re giving up; it’s what you’re investing in. Even if someone does not consider themselves a “business-minded” individual, we all have relationships in our lives. Instead of looking at the ‘time’ that we are giving up to be with that person, see it as how you are ‘investing’ into that person.
Does this encourage you in your daily life? How does this affect you in how you handle daily business decisions? What are you willing to give up? We want to hear from you. Share with us how this wisdom helps you to achieve the goals you have set for your life. See the full conversation about this important success secret, and so much more.
