It’s Possible to have Peace in Your Storms
Many times in life we face storms and trials, and even Jesus said, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” You may be surprised when you face troubles as a believer and as Jesus said we would have troubles. Even the Apostle Paul shares with us, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” We don’t have to waste our time worrying or stressing about something we can’t change. Instead, we can spend the time praying and giving it all to God and in turn, receive His peace. God is the One Who can turn our troubles around for good and during this trouble we can be at complete peace, resting in God, knowing that He is in control. The Power of Spending Time of JESUS
What is abiding? You may hear us talk about this on the program all the time. Abiding is spending time with God, hiding God’s Word in our hearts and praying/talking with Him and then doing what He says. Why do we abide? Examine the scriptures to compare what we have heard from others to make sure it is true. “Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.” One thing that develops as we abide with God is that we learn to relate to Him which builds a relationship. Also, through abiding, we learn how to bear good fruit in our abiding with Him. Jesus says, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” Do we really know anyone, especially the Lord, if we do not spend time with them and appreciate and apply what they say? Walking out God’s Word is truly knowing God and causes us to bear good fruit. Spending this time with God daily opens our eyes to see ourselves and to evaluate why we are living our lives the way we are whether good or bad. It’s Both the Kindness and Sternness of God
We have an enlightening discussion about a sermon taught by Jonathan Edwards in 1741, Sinners in the Hand of an Angry God. When we make Jesus the Lord of our lives, we are saved from the wrath of God. It may be hard to understand this with many of the teachings we hear these days; that we can love someone and be angry with them at the same time. God showed mercy to us, which is Him showing His love, by sending His Son to die a brutal death. Jesus took on all the wrath of God at the moment of His death. And Jesus rose again to bring us eternal life taking on all our sins, washing them away, so we can be with Him forever. God took what we deserved and put all of that in Jesus.
