Heart of Nehemiah: The Battle Continues as You Build, but Do Not Let It Stop You; You Win If You Do Not Quit (Part 4 of 13)

The battle does not pause when the building starts. A ridiculing, mocking spirit took hold through Sanballat, and anybody held captive by Lucifer can carry that same tongue. You can tell what spirit is speaking when ridicule shows up. God does not ridicule His builders.

Five Things We Will Learn

1. How to recognize a mocking spirit when the work has just begun.
2. Why the shock of who ridicules you can be the biggest test.
3. Where Nehemiah put his faith when bad press hit early.
4. How to keep building instead of stopping to argue with mockers.
5. Why you win if you do not quit.

Ridicule Is Part of the Journey

They had just gotten started. Then came the bad press. Do not think it will not happen. Ask God for grace to respond. Some of the hardest moments are when someone who walked with you, or the least likely voice, begins to mock. You have to move past the ridiculers, mockers, and haters. They are there to sow doubt.

Nehemiah’s faith was not in himself. His faith was in his God who called him and told him what he was going to do. Insecure people throw stuff when vision gets clear. Secure people keep a trowel in their hand.

You Win If You Do Not Quit

Find out what God is doing in your generation and throw yourself into it. Keep building through the battle. The enemy’s strategy is simple: stop the work. Your answer is simpler: do not stop.

Read Nehemiah 4 with a shepherd’s heart. Hear the taunts. Then hear the builders. The wall rises when the people refuse to quit.

A Word for Builders

Later we will talk about praying for those who oppose the work. For now, get over the shock, stay on assignment, and remember: you win if you do not quit. Listen above, then keep going. The attacks continue in Part 5, and so does the work.
